Brussels Livestock report
005 head of cattle on offer at week’s sale
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Dec.
16 were 3,055 head of cattle, 1,389
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market.
Choice steers and heifers sold $96 to
$100 with sales to $114.25. Second-
cut steers and heifers sold $92 to
$96. The cows sold actively with
prices $ I to $2 higher. On Thursday
the veal sold on a steady market. The
lambs sold on a strong active trade.
On Friday the calves sold at prices
$2 to $4 higher with the yearlings
trading $2 higher also.
There were 761 steers on offer.

offering of two steers averaged
1,345 lbs. selling for an average
price of $106.07.

weighed 1,290 lbs. which sold to

There were 240 cows on offer. D1
and D2 cows sold $31 to $39 with
sales to $52.50; D3, $28 to $31; D4,
$15 to $25. Valbrook Farms,
Chepstow, consigned four limousin
cows averaging 1,364 lbs. which
sold for an average price of $42.57
with sales to $52.50. One red cow
consigned by George McCall,
Annan, weighed 1,390 lbs. which
sold for $48. One red cow consigned
by Clyde Sleightholm, Listowel,
weighed 1,220 lbs. which sold for
$46.50.
There were 20 bulls on offer sell
ing $21.50 to $35 with sales to
$35.50. One limousin bull consigned
by Gerald Becker, Ayton, weighed
1,710 lbs. which sold to Levinoff
Meat Packers for $35.50. One hol-
stein bull consigned by Carl Bryson,
Watford, weighed 2,025 lbs. selling
for $35.
There were 211 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $100 to $115 with
sales to $130.50; good holstein,
$100 to $110 with sales to $112.50;
medium holstein, $95 to $105; plain
and heavy holstein, $80 to $95. John
