Busy time for
Brussels
The Brussels Tykes have been
busy. They played Elma Logan on
Dec. 10.
The game started out pretty slow
for Brussels. Elma Logan scored
three fast ones but Emily Mitchell
came back and scored. Delayna
Smith assisted.
Elma Logan snuck another two by
Dawson Peachy who played a great
game in net. With seconds left
Derrick Waechter scored finishing
the game at 5-2.
On Dec. 16 the Tykes played the
parents. Seth Nichol played well in
net and he never let one of his
Tykes
mom’s shots in. The final score was
7-2.
On Dec. 17 the Tykes played at
the John Labatt Centre. Brussels
Tykes and Novices mixed up the
teams and played a great game.
The score was 6-2. Waechter
played net.
Parents and kids faced off at a fun game for Brussels novice hockey Friday, Dec. 16. Final
score was smudged a bit to read 39-0 for the kids. (Heather Crawford photo)
AA Midgets win first game
of round robin playdowns
On Saturday, Dec. 17, the Saugeen
Maitland AA midget girls played the
first game of the three-team round
robin series to determine who will
represent the west division of the
North Metro Girls Hockey
League.
The Lightning defeated London 4-
2 but had to play catch-up hockey for
the first two periods. Allison
Quennell tied the game 1-1 on a pass
from Kendall Whitfield.
In the second period, Janette
Hammell tied the game 2-2 with the
assist going to Jenny Bults.
Courtney Sutherland made a
Midget Giris face
beautiful pass to Hammell for the
game winning goal. Whitfield scored
the final goal with the assist going to
Quennell.
The Lightning will continue the
series when they host Bluewater on
Dec. 30 in Howick, then will travel
to play Bluewater in Strathroy on
Jan. 2.
The next game with London has
not been determined.

tough opponent
The Brussels Midget girls met a
busload of skill within the Saugeen
Shores midget girls team Sunday
night in Brussels.
It was a fast-paced game with
Saugeen Shore scoring two goals in
the first.
The pace picked up slightly in the
second. Despite end-to-end action
(here was no score change.
The third period was quicker again
and more exciting for the fans.
Saugeen Shores scored two.
The Brussels girls were outpassed
and outshot but played very well
despite a 4-0 loss.
Coaches say it was a great team
effort.
The next home game is Sunday,
Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Here's hoping your holiday is
one-of-a-kind!
We appreciate your continued
loyal support.
