Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Fed steers, heifers sell on steady market Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending Dec. 2 were 3,277 head of cattle, 899 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold on a steady market. Choice steers and heifers sold $96 to $100 with sales to $110.25. Second- cut steers and heifers sold $92 to $96. The cows sold at prices $1 to $2 higher. On Thursday the veal sold on a strong active trade with prices fully steady to last week. The lambs also sold on a good active trade with prices remaining steady to last week’s higher prices. On Friday all weights and classes of Stockers sold on a steady market. There were 910 steers on offer. Walter Riddell, Granton, consigned one limousin steer weighing 1,325 lbs. which sold to Green’s Meat Market for $110.25. His overall offering of nine steers averaged 1,497 lbs. selling for the average price of $104.04. Six steers con­ signed by John Wiersma, Blyth, averaged 1,388 lbs. selling for an average price of $99.09 with his top limousin steer weighing 1,345 lbs. selling for $107.15. Emerson L. Martin, Linwood, consigned one blonde steer weigh­ ing 1,325 lbs. which sold to Dominion Meat Packers for $106. His overall offering of eleven steers averaged 1,516 lbs. selling for an average price of $104.85. Four black steers consigned by John Coleman, Kippen, averaged 1,414 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $104. Four charolais steers consigned by John Brubacher, St. Jacobs, aver­ aged 1,414 lbs. which sold to Norval Meat Packers for $105.50. His over­ all offering of five steers averaged 1,419 lbs. selling for an average price of $102.76. Darren Johnston, Bluevale, con­ signed two steers averaging 1,313 lbs. which sold for an average price of $101.62 with his top blue steer weighing 1,195 lbs. selling for $104.75. Fourteen steers consigned by Walter Nicholson, Monkton, averaged 1,480 lbs. selling for an average price of $98.85 with his top blonde steer weighing 1,215 lbs. selling for $103.75. Jesse Martin Jr., Linwood, consigned one red steer weighing 1,395 lbs. which sold for $103.75. His overall offering of forty-nine steers averaged 1,468 lbs. selling for an average price of $98.27. Cunningham Noland Cattle Co. Lucan, consigned forty steers averaging 1,532 lbs. which sold for an average price of $98.03 with their top limousin steer weighing 1,660 lbs. selling for $103.75. One limou­ sin steer consigned by Kevin Stewardson, Wyoming, weighed 1,250 lbs. which sold for $102.50. His overall offering of two steers averaged 1,233 lbs. selling for an average price of $95.85. There were 319 heifers on offer. M-R Farms, Exeter, consigned one gold heifer weighing 1,210 lbs. which sold for $103. Two limousin heifers consigned by Kevin Masse, Dashwood, averaged 1,088 lbs. sell­ ing for $102.75. Murray Switzer, St. Marys, consigned two black heifers averaging 1,268 lbs. which sold for $101.75. His overall offering of sev­ enteen heifers averaged 1,249 lbs. selling for an average price of $99.96. Seven red heifers consigned by Marvara Farms, Drayton, aver­ aged 1,346 lbs. selling to Norval Meat Packers for $99.75. John Martin, Lucknow, consigned three black heifers averaging 1,212 lbs. which sold for $102. His overall offering of ten heifers averaged 1,228 lbs. selling for an average price of $99.03. Six limousin heifers consigned by Mervin Bearinger, Clifford, aver­ aged 1,178 lbs. selling for an aver­ age price of $98.35 with sales to $99. Frank Roney, Staffa, consigned eight black heifers averaging 1,176 lbs. which sold for $100.50. His overall offering of thirteen heifers averaged 1,201 lbs. selling for an average price of $97.72. Ten heifers consigned by K.B.D. Farms, Walton, averaged 1,305 lbs. which sold for an average price of $97.61 with their top three black heifers averaging 1,253 lbs. selling for $100.75. Levi Sherk, St. Clements, con­ signed three limousin heifers averag­ ing 1,213 lbs. which sold for $99.75. His overall offering of nine heifers averaged 1,226 lbs. selling for an average price of $97.58. Fifteen heifers consigned by Owen F. Bauman, Wellesley, averaged 1,282 lbs. which sold for an average price of $93.51 with his top four gold heifers averaging 1,320 lbs. selling for an average price of $93.51. There were 325 cows on offer. DI and D2 cows sold $31 to $38 with sales to $60.50; D3, $28 to $31; D4, $15 to $25. William Clarke, Grand Valley, consigned six limousin cow averaging 1,293 lbs. which sold for an average price of $37.43 with sales to $60.50. One red cow consigned by Jayme Reid, Tiverton, weighed 1,395 lbs. which sold for $58.50. Dennis Fischer, Durham, consigned one charolais cow weighing 1,495 lbs. which sold for $56.50. There were 24 bulls on offer sell­ ing $20 to $52 with sales to $57. Phillip Dammeier, Listowel, con­ signed one limousin bull weighing 1,955 lbs. which sold for $52. One limousin bull consigned by John winger, Palmerston, weighed 1,905 lbs. selling to Dominion Meat Packers for $47.50. There were 218 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $110 to $120 with sales to $125; good holstein, $95 to $109 with sales to $113.50; medium holktein, $80 to $90; heavy holstein, $75 to $90. Mike Kikkert, Zurich, consigned two black veal steers averaging 755 lbs. which sold to Newmarket Meat Packers for $125. One black wf veal steer consigned by Mark and Paul Pennington, Mildmay, weighed 715 lbs. which sold to Abingdon Meat Packers for $124. Jim Waddell, Staffa, con­ signed one red veal steer weighing 690 lbs. which sold to Abingdon Meat Packers for $114.50. Lambs under 50 lbs. sold $172.50 to $220; 50 - 64 lbs., $175 to $240; 65 - 79 lbs., $161 to $218; 80 - 94 lbs., $150 to $173; 95 - 109 lbs., $152 to $163; 110 lbs. and over, $130 to $154. Sheep sold $65 to $80 with sales to $97.50. Goats sold $23 to $116.
