David exhorts God to save the
people of Israel. In the gospel
reading, Mark 13: 24-37, Christ
speaks to His followers about being
prepared for the day when the Son of
God will return. He warns them to
be alert and always ready for no one
knows when this shall come to pass.
Advent is a time of great
anticipation in the Christian Church,
a time to watch for signs and to
await the birth of Christ. Rev. Cook
titled her message on the first
Sunday of Advent, Waiting to See
God. Waiting requires great vision,

they can get engrossed in the present
and not be ready.
As when waiting for a parade to
pass, watchers wait passively until
they hear the sounds of its approach
and then become actively involved
the happening, Christians wait
passively through Advent for what
they expect to see as Christmas Day
approaches.
Rev. Pat encouraged everyone to
do some active waiting by visiting
shut-ins, bringing items for the
mitten tree, packing comfort boxes
for the needy, bringing white gifts
for the Sunday school, etc.
As Christians wait for new
beginnings in the world, Advent
gives an opportunity to put faith into

The weather outside is frightful
While youngsters enjoyed time from school last week due
to the winter storm, it was business as usual for most folks

There are a number of villagers
who could use a visit perhaps or a
phone call to speed them along the
path to better health.
Pat Mason recently spent a week
in Seaforth hospital for his rather
chronic breathing problems. Hazel
Reid was in Clinton hospital for a
time but by now should be settling in
at Queensway in Hensall. And
Margaret Good, who had been
coping so well at home is currently
in hospital.
