serve
supper
at
CRC
The Blyth Christian Reformed
Church was all a bustle on Friday,
Nov. 11 as the Blyth GEMS Club
(Girl’s Everywhere Meeting their
Saviour) served up their annual
stamppot supper.
This traditional Dutch meal of
sausage, stamppot (kale and potatoes
or carrot and potatoes), and all the
trimmings is always an excellent
fundraiser for the girls club.
Parents donate some of the food
items and willing members of the
congregation donate stamppot in
exchange for a free meal ticket.
The stamppot supper has been
served up by the local GEMS club
(previously known as Calvinettes)
for over 25 years.
Every year there is an
overwhelming response and this
year a profit of over $850 was made.
The girls are always eager to serve
and the atmosphere is busy and
spirited.
GEMS presently has 39 girls who
meet every Wednesday night from
7:30 - 9 p.m.
The girls enjoy doing badge work,
crafts, Bible study, singing and
creative dance.
