enough sales slips, catalogues and
advertisements we get brainwashed
into the buying of the season and if
we’re not careful the peace, joy, love
and hope are pushed aside in our
rush.
So as your preparations begin
remember the reason for the season
and enjoy each moment.
Well Santa found Brussels on
Saturday. What a relief the old chap
came through once again. Some of us
were a little concerned after listening
to weather reports from last week but
we should have known better. The
weather was absolutely beautiful
after the whiteouts and snow squalls
of Thursday.
What a welcome for Santa - lots of
folks to watch and lots of people
ready to participate in the parade
itself. What a good parade - the
magic was in the air as the Seaforth
Girls’ band sent the tone for a night of
fun and community spirit. Our own
Legion pipe band once again did us
proud with their tunes. The
municipalities were well represented
for the fun; even the new grader got
all decked out for the parade.
Once again the unsung heroes in
expenses in trying to keep the
Huronia Regional Living Centre
open in Orillia.
There was a good attendance at the
casserole and euchre party Nov. 21.
Results were; high lady, Sandra
Cameron; high man, George Somers;
ladies' low, Linda Patterson; men's
low, Lloyd Smith, Joan Jacobs, Ross
Cunningham; lone hands, Yvonne
Knight, Beryl Smith; tally winners,
Charlie Cameron, Elva Brown,
Shirley Giousher, Bill Kellington,
Helen Gallop, Judy Hahn, Leona
McDonald, Bill Craig, Don Crigger,
John Brown.
The next card party and casserole
supper is Feb. 20 at the Lodge
hall.

our midst did their usual good work.
Bands were booked, Santa was
confirmed, the budget was set, the
advertisements were placed, the
candy was bought and mysteriously
all bagged.
Yes it takes a good community to
host Santa. To all the workers - seen
and unseen - thank you very, very
much.
Friendship is a sacred trust that
requires attention. For 30 years
school friends from Brussels have
stayed connected with gatherings and
celebrations. Last Saturday at the
Optimist Clubhouse they reconnected
and of course enjoyed food and u
friendship. Brenda (Knight) Whee^r
and Donna (Aitchison) White hosted
their friends: Cheryl (Bauer) Ryan.

What a tradition and may you
enjoy many more years as friends.
As the days of December move
along be good to yourself and do
things that lift your spirits. Mark your
calendar and check the ads for the
night to hear the-community choirs
show us their work - the songs that
will be heard in each church during
Christmas.
This year Brussels Mennonite
Fellowship is hosting the event on
Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
For years the United Church has
held a carol-sing just before
Christmas, a time for the old
favourites to be shared. That is to be
held Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. Mark these
down now before you forget.
Enjoy the season - with or without
the snow.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
