Obituaries
ALF SUTTON
Alfred Charles Sutton of Ethel
passed away at Victoria Hospital,
London on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005.
Born in Toronto, Sept. 28, 1912,
Alf was in his 94th year.
Alf was a Second World War
veteran serving overseas in Europe
with the Royal Canadian Corps of
Signals.
Alf was active in his community,
being a life member of the Brampton
Lions Club, a past president of the
Brussels Lions Club, a Past District
Deputy Grand Master for the North
Huron Masonic District and Past
Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 284
in Brussels and a 60-year member of
the Royal Canadian Legion.
Alf was the beloved husband of
the late Ethel Sutton (2004) and was
predeceased by his daughter Muriel
Helen Sutton, brothers Jack and
Francis and sister Gwen Large.
Alf will be sadly missed by his
brother David and Bookie Sutton of
Newmarket, his nephews William J.
Sutton, John, Rick and David
Sutton, Rod and Gary Godden and
Don Anthony, his nie.ces Cathy
McFarlane, Karen Goulden and
Doris Noble and cousins Jean Barr
and Nora Crook.
Friends were received by the
family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Thursday at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home.
The funeral service was conducted
from St. John’s Anglican Church on
Friday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. with Rev.
Tom Wilson officiating. Readings
were by John Sutton and Rev. Joan
Golden. A remembrance of Alf was
given by Rev. Joan Golden formerly
of Ethel United Church.
Hymns sung during the service
were What a Friend We Have in
Jesus, Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus,
Rock of Ages, Amazing Grace and O
God Our Help in Ages Past.
Pallbearers were Jack
McCutcheon, Clarence
McCutcheon, Henry Exel, Ron
Clarkson, Max Demaray and Frank
Workman, all members of the
Brussels Lions Club.
Interment was in Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery, Ethel.
A Legion service under the
auspices of Brussels Legion No. 218
RCL, followed by a Masonic
Service under the auspices of St.
John’s Lodge No. 284 AF and AM
were held in the funeral home
Thursday evening starting at 9 p.m.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to

ISABEL RIEHL
Isabel Riehl (Huether) of
Cambridge and formerly of Seaforth
passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19,
2005 at Cambridge Memorial
Hospital. She was in her 87th year.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Glenn Huether and Don Riehk
She was the dear mother of Gerald
Huether and his wife Elizabeth of
Cambridge. Mrs. Riehl was the
loved grandmother of Sandra and
her husband Peter Black and Tracey
and her husband Bill Smith, and
great-grandmother of Alex, Michael
and Christopher Black and Andrew
and Hannah Smith. She will be
remembered by her sister Jean
Wilbee and sister-in-law Marie
Coutts, both of Seaforth.
A sister Marie Cameron, her
brother William Coutts, and parents
James and Hazel (Hackwell) Coutts
predeceased her.
Cremation has taken place. A
private family service was held at
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87
Goderich St. W., Seaforth.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.

MARY DARLENE MITCHLER
Mary Darlene Mitchler of Blyth
and formerly of RR4, Brussels,
passed away peacefully at her
residence, surrounded by her loving
husband Brian and her dear friend
Coreen, on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005.
She was 36.
She was the beloved wife of Brian
Mitchler of RR4, Brussels. She was
the loving stepmother of Michelle
Fenton and husband Wayne of
Dungannon and Trevor Mitchler of
Lucknow. She will be dearly missed
by parents James and Lois
Freiburger of Greenock,, brothers
Christopher Freiburger and wife
Sandra of Greenock and Kevin
Freiburger and wife Nicole of
Hanover. Mrs. Mitchler will be
lovingly remembered by her special
aunt and uncle Linda and Ron
Freiburger of Greenock. She will be
also missed by several nieces and
nephews, and many cousins.
She was the cherished friend of
Coreen Henderson of Blyth.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Community Church of God, 308
Blyth Rd., Blyth, on Monday from 2
- 4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Tuesday,
Nov. 22 from 1 p.m. until the time of
>k funeral service at 2 p.m.
Interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Breast Cancer Research and
Education Fund or the Marion Cook
Memorial Fund would be
appreciated.
Funeral arrangements were
entrusted to the Falconer Funeral
Homes Ltd., Clinton.
ROBERT ALVIN HIGGINS
Mr. Alvin Higgins of Wingham
passed away at Braemar Retirement
Centre on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005.
He was 84.
He was the beloved husband of
Verna (Casemore) Higgins of
Wingham and dear father of Marilyn
and David Penner of Listowel and
Carol and Richard Lassaline of
Gorrie. He was the loving
grandfather of Rob Penner of
Kitchener, Tim and Deb Penner of
Alvinston, Debra Penner of
Listowel, Chris and Kyle Lassaline
of Gorrie and great-grandfather of
Micheal, Jessica, Jordan and Mason
Penner. He was the brother of Jean
Pattison, Margaret Higgins and Ruth
King of Belgrave and Jeremiah
Higgins of Stratford.
His parents Robert and Lila
(Brydges) Higgins predeceased him.
Mr. Higgins was a veteran of the
Second World War. He was a
member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Branch 180, Wingham for
over 45 years.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham, on
Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Royal Canadian Legion service was
held in the funeral home on Saturday
at 7 p.m. The funeral service was
held at the funeral home on Sunday
at 2 p.m. Rev. Len Myers officiated.
Interment was in Wingham
Cemetery.

and Stroke Foundation, Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch 180,
Wingham or St. Paul’s Trinity
Anglican Church would be

Nov. 17.
