PEOPLE AROUND BELGRAVE By Linda Campbell Call 357-2188 Audrey Fenton welcomed 13 Belgrave Women’s Institute members and one guest to the' November meeting. It began with the singing of O Canada, the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. The program convenor, Isabel Campbell introduced Melissa Snowden, the fitness co-ordinator at the North Huron complex. She spoke of the purpose of exercise for better posture, muscle strength, prevention of stiffness, flexibility, balance and endurance. Most of these exercises can be done at home during household tasks. She had everyone go through movements to help strengthen muscles in all areas of the body. Walking and swimming are good exercises. Reading material was distributed. A social time was enjoyed with lunch served by Nancy Jardin and Gladys VanCamp. The business meeting began with the minutes and financial report. The roll call was answered by giving the number of volunteer hours. The criteria for the WI Education Scholarship was discussed. WI members are asked t4o donate items for the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario to be collected in April. Members can also collect small craft items for the Caribbean project. A sewing course, making a rag jacket, taught by Doreen Marks will beheld in the new year. The next meeting will be the Christmas dinner on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. Euchre at The last card party for the season was held at the hall in Cranbrook on Friday night. Hosting the party were Joan Jacobs, Eleanor Stevenson, Neil Hatt and Edna McLellan. There were five tables at play. The following were the winners: share the wealth, Isabelle Craig, Marion Harrison; high lady, Myrna Burnett; high man, Verna Crawford; low lady, Shirley Verstoep; low man, Isabelle Craig; lone hands, Judy Hahn, Leona McDonald, Mary Huether, Dorothy Dilworth, Neil Hatt, Marion Harrison; travelling lone hand, Beryl Smith; lucky Cranbrook tallies, Adrian Verstoep, Bill Craig, Leota Thompson, Lloyd Weber, Helen Dobson and Lloyd Smith. The next euchre will be held the first Friday of April. The Wednesday night darts will begin on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. Community extends sympathy The Cranbrook community would like to send their sympathy to the Terpstra families on the death of Ben Terpstra. Come out and enjoy $ * the Brussels Santa Claus Parade * Saturday, November 26 . The Brussels Santa Claus Parade will start at 5:00 pm with floats lining up at the arena between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. We hope that you will come out and enjoy the evening! Don't forget to bring your letter to Santa and get your picture taken with him at the arena after the parade.
