He resided at RR2, Atwood and was born 62 years ago in the Netherlands, a son of Johanna (Krynen) and the late Nicolaas Terpstra. Ben was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel. He was the beloved husband of Hennie Terpstra whom he married in 1965. He was the loving father of Jeff and friend Vince of Victoria, B.C., Lori and Gary Askett of Seaforth, Ron and Morgan of RR2, Atwood, Gary and Julianne of RR3, Brussels, Sue and Rob Van Nes of RR1, St. Pauls, Ben and Sandy, Dennis and Tara, all of RR3, Brussels and the special Opa to Rachel, Colin, Marly, Tori, Noah, Jack, Julianne, Jaime, Amber and Cameron. Ben was the dear brother of Emma and Henk Boersen of Gadshill, Charlie and Catherine of Brussels, Julie and Martin VanBakel of Dublin, Nick and Catherine of Atwood, Herman and Rosemary of Brussels, Joe and Miriam of Brussels, Joanne and Luke deBrabandere of St. Marys and Mary Terpstra of Goderich. He will also be remembered by his adoptive siblings Mike and Patricia and by many nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his daughter Mary in<infancy and his sisters Margaret Van Nes and Helen Terpstra. Ben’s family invited relatives and friends to share their memories at Peebles Funeral Home, 141 John St., Atwood, on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers were recited at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel on Monday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. Father Paul Nicholson officiat­ ed. Interment followed in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Brussels. In lieu of flowers, memorial dona­ tions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice can be made by calling the funeral home at 356-2382.
