Ruth Bauer presided and opened the meeting with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Leona Armstrong read the secretary’s report and a thank you note from Yvonne DeWit. Yvonne Knight gave the financial report. There is a bus going to the Erland Lee on Dec. 7 if anyone wishes to Thieves take home theatre A Huron East residence reported a break and enter, which occurred sometime between Nov. 2 and Nov. 3. OPP staled that a house on St. Michael’s Road had been entered afte a window screen was pried from an unlocked window. The victim had been moving items from this residence to a new residence. Taken was a Sony home theatre system valued at approximately $600. Police are asking anyone who may have noticed any suspicious vehicles or people to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-8477. Members were asked to save their pop can tabs and bring them to the District annual. The next meeting is the Christmas meeting and the members were asked to be at the library on Dec. 14 at 11:45 a.m. to go out for dinner. Bring any donations for the shut-in boxes at this time. Lucy Hesse introduced Barbara Siemon and her daughter Melissa who had visited Japan. They gave a talk and showed many pictures of their story there. This was very interesting. Mrs. Siemon and her daughter were attendants of the bride in this Japanese wedding. The bride wore white makeup for the wedding, as well as a long white dress and veil. A surprise auction was held with Edna McLellan being the auctioneer. A cheque for $100 will be sent to the Children’s Hospital in London. Lunch was served by Edna Pletch and Leona Armstrong. The Brussels Santa Claus Parade will start at 5:00 pm with floats lining up at the arena between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. We hope that you will come out and enjoy the evening! Don't forget to bring your letter to Santa and get your picture taken with him at the arena after the parade. The Brussels Morris and Grey Recreation Committee is hosting their annual Free Skating Party. Nov. 11 was remembered in many ways and many places again this year. Whether gathered at the cenotaph in company or at private •gatherings or at a pause in the world Morning Star meets The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was held Nov. 8 with a good attendance. Noble Grand Sister Jane Hall presided. Sister Gertie Kellington read a Remembrance Day poem called A Soldier’s Cry. Plans were completed for the casserole supper and euchre on Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. A box will be available for donations to the Food Bank at the Christmas meeting, Dec. 13. This is also when Secret Sisters will be revealed. Thank You. of commerce the time to remember our veterans was observed. We shall remember them. Several folks from the Brussels- Ethel Pastoral Charge of the United Church travelled to St. Thomas on Sunday to show their support of Joan Golden at her covenanting service with the St. Andrews congregation. Our prayers and good wishes go with her into her first full- time ministry position. The deer hunters were out and about last week but several folks talked about near misses of wayward deer on the highway, with the orange vests nowhere in sight. Do you suppose the deer have a system to track the hunters’ whereabouts? A few Christmas decorations are up and the white stuff flying the other morning made one think about the coming season.
