Mr. and Mrs. Livingstone were absent from home at the time, but their twochildren, who were in the house, were burned to death. Khiva ' Ou Friday evening the Literary and Debating Society of S. S. No. 6, gave their second Public entertainment which, to say the least, proved a deeid- .ed success. The programme was long J+snd interesting, being well carried out, and listened to throughout by a large attentive audience. The organ ac- companied with violin and mouth or- gan; the singing and reciting of chil- dren .were well received together with the laugh-provokiug dialogues given by society made all feel pleased with the entertainment. A number of our' local sports feel somewhat disappointed this season with the scarcety of game. Catarrh, Catarrhal Deafness, Hay Fevers A fight with a Prigst, PA.1rtclliCplfl!si 1, N. One of the parislloiteors nam- ed George Hughes, a prominent rne'r- chant of this city, and Father Early had some trouble over the right of Mr• I•Iughes to pew No, 11 When Hughes and his son occupied it this morning the trouble was renewed, both Hughes and Early haying a war of words over the matter, ending in Father Early g ? , which 111 ] hitting Hughes in the faro, after w three men, one Father Early's nephew, cattle to the tatters assistance, and a man named Cullen pounded Hughes unmercifullyinthe faceand on the head and neck. To -night Hughes sworn out warrants for the arrest of all fourr'of his assailants." Father Early says Ilughes struck him first, The af- fair has caused much excitement and indignation. A Scarcity of Water.< ST, Loves, March 15.—Advices from the Rio Grande county, in' Texas, say live stock of all kinds are suffering severely from lack of water. Nearly all the water holes, streams and tanks itt the counties of Starr, Hidalgo, Za- pota and Duval are dry, and in many places cattle have to be driven ten miles to water. The cattle are in very poor condition, though there is no lack of grass. It is feared that if the drouth continues much longer the loss will be very heavy, Since September last there has been no rain to speak of. A NEW HOME TREATMENT. Sufferers are not , generally 'aware that these diseases are contagious, or that they are due to the presence of living parasites in the lining mem- brane of the nose and eustachian tubes Microscopic researeh, hoi evert has prov- ed this to be a fact, ' anti the result is that a simple remedy has been formu- lated whereby catarrh, catarrhal deaf- ness and hay fever are permanently cured in from one to three simple ap- plications Made at home by the patient once in"ts e weejis. N B.-Foregatar= rhal discharges peculiar "to females (whites) this remedy is a specific. (10:22'88) Hung Him to a Rafter, fASTINGS, Neu-, niarcll 17th.—A farmer named Stanton, living near Bromfield, shot and instantly killed W. W. Lewis in his store in that p1ase Saturday afternoon, and was lynched in 30 minutes after.- committing the crime. Lewis was setting in his store when Stanton entered and began firing. He attempted to run, butseas hit in the back and dropped dead. Stanton »was jailed, butea mob of ten men, wearing masks, marched to the jail and putting a rope around Stanton's neck, dragged him to a livery stable,' where they hung him to a rafter. Men Blown to Pieces. PITTSBURG, Pa.,March 15.—A special from Scranton, Pa., says: Two boilers at the Northwest colliery, three miles north of Carbondale, exploded with ter- rific force during the .noon hour today, while a large number of men were in the room eating their • lunch. The buildings.werehurled to the ground and the. flying pieces of .boilers went hundreds of feet in the air. , George Ross, of Carbondale, and Peter Titsoe, of North-west, were torn to pieces. Several others were painfully injured by scalding steam and the debris un- der which they were buried, and three or four will die: Money in Trees. The man who has walnut trees in his possession these. days has , a veritable bonanza. At a sale on a farm near Delphi, Indiana, the other day 120 trees were sold on the stump and brought $10,01.0 cash. A few weeks before $6,- 800 in cash was paid for 80 trees of the same species belonging to the same owner. As the walnut tree matures rapidly and can be made to grow where cereal crops are difficult to cultivate, it appears to us that farmers ''might do well to give a little attention to the planting of so valuable a product. In addition to Its timber, it :can .also be made to pay as a nut pro4ucer. As timber becomes more scarce we venture svnlnut as well as to predict that the e other trees required for building and for the production of furniture will be-' come more valuable and that the fam- ily of the agriculturist who keeps put ting out a few trees every year will reap a rich reward from his forethought. A sapling costs little and is easily rear- cd. Why should the waste places of. the country not be -reforested by co -Oji- eration and vastly enrieled thereby? It is a question 'for the sensible farmers to answer. Quashed the ByrLaw. EDITOR. --It iS a well known fact' that the majority of ,people are inclined ' to look upon a cold in the 'head as a matter of little importance—involving at the most only a temporary inconven- ence. No more disastrous mistake was ever made. The neglected cold in the head is the source of the catarrhal af- fections with which about seven -tenths of the people of this country are afflict- ed, and catarrhitself is too often the preliminary stages of consumption and death. The symptoms»of . catarrh are manifold, but among them' may be mentioned, offensive breath; dull, opressive headache ;offensive droppings from the nostrils into the throat and bronchial tubes; deafness or partial deafness; constant hawking -and spit• ting; weak and watery eyes; a .hack- ing, cough and feeling of general debil- ity; ringingin the ears and frequent dizziness. These are but a few of the more general symptoms, and those who experience them should lose no time in applying a remedy -delays are pro- verbially dangerous, and in the case of this too prevalent disease may lead to death. We offer Nasal Balm to the public as a POSITIVE ORUB for cold in the head and for catarrh in all forms. and stages. Nasal Balm has been test- ed in thousands of cases, and the test- imonials in our possession prove that it is all we claim for it. It has cured other sufferers -it will cure- you. Itis easy to use, pleasant and agreeable and does not require a douche, or any tort- uring instrument to apply it. Give it a trial and be convinced of its great efficacy.
