Top quality Stocker heifers, 300 - Vincent seeks OFA presidency Belgrave-area farmer Neil Vincent has filed nomination papers to seek the presidency of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. A former president of the Huron County Federation of Agriculture, Vincent said he was prompted to seek the post because of a lack of action on the Odyssey Report, a 2002 report of a group of farm lead ers headed by former OFA president Roger George that called for an umbrella group to provide a united voice for farmers. The Odyssey Report was the sub ject of much discussion at the Oct. 20 annual meeting of the Huron fed eration including a resolution asking OFA to create such an umbrella group. Several speakers mentioned Quebec’s L’Union des Producteurs Agricoles (UPA) as an example of a group that gets far more action because it presents a united front of all farm groups. Without farmers presenting a unit ed' voice, Vincent said Friday, the government is able to practise “the three ‘S’es: stall, study and stall again.” The vote for the presidency takes place Nov. 21 at the OFA annual convention in Toronto. Vincent is expected to face sitting OFA presi dent Ron Bonnett and vice-president Geri Kamenz in the election. 399 lbs., sold $86 to $130; 400 - 499 lbs., $87 to $132; 500 -599 lbs., $98 to $135.50; 600 - 699 lbs., $81 to $124; 700 - 799 lbs., $88 to $112; 800 - 899 lbs., $93 to $112.75; 900 lbs. and over, $83 to $107.
