The Walkerburn club meeting for County okays boundary change By Bonnie Gropp Citizen editor Huron County council gave triple majority to a property boundary adjustment between North Huron and Morris-Turnberry at the Nov. 3 meeting. Senior planner Dr. Wayne Caldwell explained the proposal during a public meeting. The property in question would see about 140 acres of what is known as the ‘Willis farm’ transferred to North Huron for residential purposes. Thirty acres will be retained in Morris-Turnberry for commercial development along Amberley Road. Public meetings were held in both municipalities at which, said Caldwell, there was interest but little opposition. Both councils subsequently approved the transfer. Caldwell explained the agreement will address the limited land supply for residential development in the Wingham ward and provide Morris- Turnberry with the necessary services for development there. North Huron will provide water and sewer services and Morris- Turnberry will cover the replacement costs of capacity. Councillor Murray Scott, deputy reeve of North Huron stated that it had been a pleasure working with Morris-Turnberry on this agreement, adding that it is a venture that “will work for us in the future.” “This is something that has been thought about for 30 years,” said Morris-Turnberry councillor Dorothy Kelly, “but no one could get Oct. 27 was cancelled and has been rescheduled for Nov. 17 al l :30 p.m. at the home of Ethel Ball.
