that emerges in these photographs,
and compare it with what Sallows
might see if he were alive today.

December. The Reuben R. Sallows
Gallery is located on the second
floor of the Goderich Public Library.

The North Huron Museum will
celebrate 50 years of CKNX
television al 6 p.m. sharp on Nov.
IK.
In I955 al precisely 6 p.m.
CKNX became the 13th licensed
television station in Canada.
Shows were shot live in the early
days, leaving little visual evidence
behind for us to enjoy 50 years later.
The fire in 1962 destroyed the
television and radio station and its
contents. A new station, the one still
in operation was built the next year.
To remember the days when
television shows were produced and
broadcast in Wingham. the museum
is throwing a birthday party
complete with embarrassing pictures
of the “youngster.”
The museum, located on main
street Wingham, Ontario, will be full
of photographs of shows and staff
from the television days of CKNX.
Included among the pictures of the
original studio, the scenes from the
fire of 1962 and the rebuilding of the
television and radio station will be
CKNX trivia and original artifacts
like the cameras used in the studio, a
diary of the rebuild of the station
and much more.
This fall. CKNX-TV became A
Channel, a title that television
stations in London. Barrie. Windsor
and Western Canada now share. As
the identity of the ’small town
station' becomes merged with city
stations across Canada, it is
important to take lime to celebrate
the unique character and personality
of the CKNX-TV locals once knew
and watched.
The museum doors will open at 5
p.m. so that everyone can be in place
at 6 p.m. to launch a special happy
birthday greeting to the small-town
television station with big dreams.

event, call Jodi Jerome at (5 19) 357-

Last weekend, Bob invited
his friends over to help
lacquer his floors.
It was a blast.
