Institute held a meeting in the
Community Hall.

welcomed all and opened with the

Tena Empey read the minutes, and
lhe treasurer's report was given by
Teresa Roetcisoender. The card
report was given by Laura Mae
Chamney and the correspondence
was read.
The fall rally is Oct. 3 at Belgrave.
Registration is at 9 a.m. There will
be a potluck meal. Bring a mug.
dishes and cutlery.
Auburn is in charge of the craft
and miscellaneous table. Selling will
start, at 12:30 p.m. Please have
articles priced.
Auburn is also in charge of
introducing the guest speaker
Glcnna Ladell.
The convention is Oct. 4 at Mount
Brydges. If interested call Mrs.
Cartwright at 526-7256.
Mrs. Empey showed blankets for
premature newborns and some
members volunteered to sew some.
A bus of W) members went to
Toronto to Quilts. Quills and Bears
on Friday. Sept. 16. Nine went from
this area.
A donation will be given by the
Auburn WI also.
The roll call was answered with an
interesting item from past issues
from lhe Home and Country. Mrs.
Cartwright thanked the members
who had helped with the summer
caterings and mentioned a large
catering for the Lions on Oct. 1.
Jean Plaetzer. PRO convenor,
introduced Lois Elliott who gave
interesting information on the World
Rural Food Day.

my reports, you will be happy to
know- Sarah Seeger did not change
schools. I had her heading to
Fanshawe last week and she is in
fact in her final year of Western

Guelph for his last semester.
Heather Robinson has been placed
in Pembroke hospital to continue her
qualifications to become a
radiologist. Patricia Robinson has
started her third year in the nursing
program at Lakehead University in
Thunder Bay. Following a few
weeks of classes she will be placed
divided into teams. Each team would
draw two income papers from a hat
and three expenses. The members
tried to save their money so they
could buy things.
Next, the members learned about
c n.-mmer math where they figured
out the unit price for different items.
The next topic was on being a
“green” consumer. Roll call was.
"What ‘green' products do you
buy?” The members named things
like newspapers, pencils, and special
packaged cookies.
June Robinson discussed the three
at Community Hall
A short course. Stack and Whack,
will be given at the OMAF office in
Clinton. Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3

Bill and Sue Robinson along with
Greg and Nancy Park, were guests
of Ron and Ruth Ann Shaw from
Orillia at an old car reunion held at
Greenfield Village in Dearborn.
Michigan. There were 6.30 antique
cars, all built prior to 1933. at the
show. The owners were invited to
attend only after passing some strict
criteria.
The mechanical gems were
parked lor display and also were
driven around the village. Antique
bicycles were also displayed.
Of particular curiosity to some of
those in attendance was how the
riders got on and off lhe Penny-
Farthing bicycle.
Participants were dressed in
appropriate period clothing.
Rs. reduce, reuse and recycle.
The members conversed about
how to be a ‘green’ consumer by
reading labels, buying in bulk and
eating produce in season. The club
also discussed what not to use, such
as individually-wrapped snacks and
drink boxes.
For the next meeting the members
need to bring the best or worst
example of packaging.
After the meeting June Robinson
served cookies and hot chocolate.
The next meeting is on Sept.
23.

Our tourists walked for two days
around the village and the Ford
Museum before 'hey felt they
had seen most of what was
available.

California have been visiting old
friends in and around the village the
past few days. Renewing some
friendships included a trip to
Huronview along with many
enjoyable stops and much
reminiscing throughout the village.
Dorothy returns to California in a
few days.

weather co-operated with sunny
skies. Worshippers were greeted by
piper John Jewitt as he walked
around the grounds.
Rev. Pat Cook's message was

Ethan and Marshall Durnin played
two violin selections and the choir
sang Unto the Hills. The Sunday
school did activities outside.
Following the service a light lunch
was served.
