the Sept. 13 meeting.***
A representative from the
economic development office
presented a strategic plan for Huron
East.
The plan includes
recommendations to further develop
the downtown areas of Seaforth and
Brussels. The plans touch on issues
that involve seniors, youth, visitors,
commercial and retail development,
agriculture and the environment.
Some of the recommendations
include making bylaws for
storefronts and streetscapes to keep
appearance standards up in the
downtown area, dedicating a centre
for after-school activities and

summer job finding for youths,
expanding blue boxes in the area,
monitoring water use and
encouraging conservation.
Recommendations are still in the
beginning stages and nothing has
been approved by council yet. The
strategic plan for Seaforth and
Brussels will be developing further
in the future.

A proposal was put before council
to request the use of the Huron East
logo in a new logo for an eye clinic
located in Seaforth.
Councillor David Blaney was
opposed, asking whether Huron East
council should be associated with a
private business. Hb felt they should
not.
The majority of councillors
disagreed with Blaney and decided
to allow the eye clinic to use the
Huron East logo.
