Resident dislikes street name
HIE EDITOR,
I ast week's Citizen announced
that Drummond Street East in Blyth
will be renamed with the inane
name Brcchen Street because this
was the hometown of one of the
founders ol Blyth. Mr. Drummond.
\s it we don't have enough
( anadian towns named after
I uropean towns and cities. We have
communities.
For a charity organization to
qualify for the grant, a TD employee
must volunteer a minimum of 40
hours in a year.
Baan volunteered at Duff’s United
Church in Walton by acting on
the property and finance committee
of the church, participating as
a recording steward for the
board, teaching Sunday school.

Joan Jacobs. Sharon Freeman,
With your help the parent council
can provide extra opportunities for
our children, and that is something
we all want. 1 encourage you to
partake in this event, whether it be
by attending, donating to the silent
auction, or giving any extra
coats, etc. for the swap so everyone
will be warm this winter!
Our children are one of our most
important assets in this community,
and as we near the season of
Thanksgiving I am truly thankful for
dozens of Yorks and New Yorks,
New Amsterdams. Berlins and in
Huron County. Dungannon, Belfast,
Brussels and more. At least the
founders of York. Ontario came to
their senses and renamed it Toronto.
The most sensible name for
Drummond Street would be to lie it
with another founder of Blyth who
worked closely with Drummond and
planning and helping with
UCW meetings, purchasing
church supplies, cleaning
flowerbeds, acting as the clerk of
session and working on the church
archives.
Baan and Seaforth TD Canada
Trust manager Stephan Foster
presented Duff's United Church
minister Joan Tuchlinsky with the
cheque.
Myrna Burnet, Jeanette Toner, Bill
Craig, Mary Davidson, Verna

The next euchre party is on Friday,
Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.
Women are asked to please bring
lunch.

rename it Kelly Street as local
historian Janis Vodden proposed.
Regrettably the powers that be, in
Wingham, decided on the name of
Brechen. I just hope that when
Sunset Drive is renamed they vtfill
come up with a name more relevant
to Blyth history or will it be named
Rover after Drummond's dog?

Challenge: Finding the time to be active
for sixty minutes per day
Solution: Spread physical activity throughout your daily routine to work up to 60
minutes As you progress to more intense exercise you can cut back to 30 minutes
4 times per week. Get started by:
• Walking for 10 minutes several times a day - walk instead of taking the car to
the store, or mailbox, slip out for a walk at lunchtime, or join a friend for a morning
or evening walk.
• Walking briskly, jogging, cycling, swimming, skipping or dancing for 20
minutes or more.
• Substituting an activity break for a coffee break - bend, stretch, and flex to
keep your muscles relaxed.and joints mobile for 10 minutes at a time. You can do
this at home, at work or out in the great outdoors.
. - Trying 10 minutes of muscle strengthening or weight resistance activities such
as situps, push-ups or weights while you watch TV or before going to bed.
• Taking a break and play actively with your kids for 10 minutes or more.
