Thresher Reunion 2005 Something of interest for all ages and music will also be available for the children. The fire hall will give Saturday and Sunday mornings a spark with a pancake breakfast al 7:30 a.m. Hot meals will be available in the upstairs auditorium^ and at concession stands on the grounds all weekend. Admission for the whole day is $5. Children under 12 get in for free if accompanied by an adult, otherwise admission is $1. On Friday senior citizen admission is $3. There will be free parking available and a shuttle bus service from the parking lot to the main gate Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Skill testing The adult special events are always a lot of fun, as competitors try their hand at a number of skills such as log sawing, bag tying and belt setting. (File photo) The 44th annual Thresher Reunion is pulling out all the stops this year and has something of interest for everyone in the family. The events begin Friday, Sept. 9 and continue until Sunday, Sept. 11. The gates open at 8 a.m. when displays will be busy setting up to operate at 9 a.m. Student activities take place Friday at 9 a.m. giving masters a chance to pass on their knowledge about everything from rope making to horse handling to the elementary school students. Friday’s events also include a fun tractor pull. Antique stock tractors will be the showcase of this event. Anyone with a tractor dating before 1958 is welcome to participate. Friday will also feature steam engine games and a show by Pierce’s Band. Threshing is the name of the game and the main event each day is the threshing demonstration. They take place each afternoon at 1:15 p.m. Those who have mastered some useful skills can show them off in the nail driving, log sawing, and bag tying competitions. Antique vehicles will also be on display including classic cars, a steam shovel and of course, tractors. A parade of tractors will take place each afternoon al 4 p.m. Friday’s parade will be followed by the Shriner fish fry in Lion’s Park. Music and dancing will cap off Friday and Saturday’s events with a music tent opening at 6 p.m. Live music will be provided from Wednesday, Sept. 7 until Saturday, Sept. 10. There are new attractions added to the schedule including chainsaw sculptures by Peter Mortensen of Mount Forest. Prepare to be fascinated as Mortensen sculpts plain old logs into magnificent pieces of art. Come see everything from tropical birds to miniature ponies at the Trickle Creek Farms display. Watch pooches jump through hoops al the Dreamweavers dog training demonstration. It’s sure to be fun for the whole family.
