(Citizen file photos) Horse plowing demos take place throughout event Another memory from the past was rejuvenated at the annual Thresher Reunion seven years ago when horses became part of the show and the tradition is carrying on. The event had been discontinued at one point due to safety concerns with horses around large, noisy steam engines, but the grounds expansion resulted in the event returning. It takes place far from the engines with a barrier between it and the campgrounds, proving to be a safe site. The equine will be plowing, discing and cultivating during demonstrations throughout the weekend, allowing visitors the opportunity to witness history come back to life. Clubs, organizations offer variety of fare Continued from A-10 fairgrounds. For a hot meal on Sunday the Blyth Lions Club will provide lunch and supper at the baseball diamond. Trinity Anglican Church will make sure your steam doesn’t run out towards the end of the night. They will be serving back bacon on a bun every night from Wednesday - Sunday until 10 p.m. and all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary will also be serving a supper meal Friday and Saturday nights from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. upstairs at the auditorium. Anyone with a sweet tooth will be glad to see Town and County Support Services flexing their muscles while scooping out ice cream. It’s the perfect fix for a hot day in the sun. For something different this year, the Grade 8 students from Blyth Public School will make sure the kids are happy with pop and pizza. Grab a slice and support the school. All vendors at the Thresher reunion are local non-profit organizations. All proceeds go towards supporting the surrounding community.
