(File photo) Flipping for you Visitors to the Reunion can get their day started right with a hearty breakfast courtesy of the Blyth firefighters. Each year hundreds line up at the hall, hoping that the only call the firefighters receive is for second helpings. (Fite photo) Don't forget to pack a big appetite when heading over to the Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion and Hobby Show this year. Sizzling steaks, steamed corn, sausage on a bun, roast corn, pizza and so much more will keep your hunger at bay from open to close. Blyth Minor Sports will be firing up the barbeque all weekend selling sausage on a bun, hamburgers and trench fries at a station between the two baseball diamonds on the fairgrounds. Thursday, Sept, 8, they will be hosting a steak dinner inside the minor sports tent. Gary Courtney is returning with his famous corn roast. You won't want to miss out on this mouth­ watering favourite. Courtney gets that savoury flavour using a well scrubbed, 50-ga)lon drum and a large steam engine. After attaching one end of a steam line to a valve on the engine and the other end to a drum, Courtney packs in 30 dozen ears of corn, with their husks still on. He sits back and lets the corn steam itself to perfection for about 20-30 minutes. You can try them out for yourself every evening for about two hours from Friday until Sunday. Before venturing out to see the displays and competitions, visit the Blyth Fire Department who will make sure you have the energy to last out the morning with a pancake breakfast. Other than pancakes, breakfast includes bacon, sausage, coffee and orange juice and will be served Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7:30 - 11 a.m. at the Fire hall. Transportation will be available from the main walk-in gate to the fire hall.
