Thresher Reunion 2005
Good eats abound at annual Reunion
Roasting

the Reunion. (File photo)
Flipping for you
Visitors to the Reunion can get their day started right with a hearty breakfast courtesy of the
Blyth firefighters. Each year hundreds line up at the hall, hoping that the only call the
firefighters receive is for second helpings. (Fite photo)
Don't forget to pack a big appetite
when heading over to the Huron
Pioneer Thresher Reunion and
Hobby Show this year.
Sizzling steaks, steamed corn,
sausage on a bun, roast corn, pizza
and so much more will keep your
hunger at bay from open to close.
Blyth Minor Sports will be firing
up the barbeque all weekend selling
sausage on a bun, hamburgers and
trench fries at a station between the
two baseball diamonds on the
fairgrounds.
Thursday, Sept, 8, they will be
hosting a steak dinner inside the
minor sports tent.
Gary Courtney is returning with
his famous corn roast. You won't
want to miss out on this mouth
watering favourite.
Courtney gets that savoury flavour
using a well scrubbed, 50-ga)lon
drum and a large steam engine. After
attaching one end of a steam line to
a valve on the engine and the other
end to a drum, Courtney packs in 30
dozen ears of corn, with their husks
still on. He sits back and lets the
corn steam itself to perfection for
about 20-30 minutes.
You can try them out for yourself
every evening for about two hours
from Friday until Sunday.
Before venturing out to see the
displays and competitions, visit the
Blyth Fire Department who will
make sure you have the energy to
last out the morning with a pancake
breakfast.
Other than pancakes, breakfast
includes bacon, sausage, coffee and
orange juice and will be served
Saturday and Sunday mornings from
7:30 - 11 a.m. at the Fire hall.
Transportation will be available
from the main walk-in gate to the
fire hall.
Hot meals will be available in the
upstairs auditorium and at
concession stands around the
