PEOPLE AROUND
LONDESBORO

Hard to believe that we have now
turned the calendar page to
September. As a summer lover I am
not looking forward to the cold and
snow which is only weeks away. It
was the sound of that first cricket in
my garage that warned me of the
approaching season change.
What a glorious Labour Day
weekend we have just been treated
io as well. We can expect summer
weather this coming weekend also,
lor the Thresher Reunion has never
had poor weather. (I hope I have not
jinxed them by saying that).
With the turning of the calendar
page the fall activities and meetings
resume. This year’s president for the
Londesborough Happy Gang
Seniors, Phyllis Tyndall, reminds
members of the group of their first
meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The gathering begins with potluck at
12:30 p.m.
New members are always
welcome. If you are considering
joining the group you might give
Phyllis a call.
School is in session again and now
that Hullett Central is giving the
concept of balanced school days a
try, I will miss the sound of the
children in the schoolyard as I enjoy
my lunch. There is nothing so
constant in life as change and this
idea is a real change for the school
day.
Teachers seem to feel that the
benefits of this timetabling change
outweigh the difficulties that may
initially be encountered.
Can it be that those markings
along the east side of London Road
from Bert and Joanne Lyon’s corner
to the post office are for new
sidewalks? Admittedly the
sidewalks in that area are in need of
repair/replacement, but other areas
of the village are crying for
sidewalks so our children can safely
make their way to and from school.
Hopefully the municipality has those
streets in the plans too.
The Londesborough Men’s
Bowling League begins their new
season on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8
p.m.
They roll at the Clinton Crown
Lanes and need new bowlers. If you
are interested in joining this men’s
. league, show up that evening or call
a present bowler.

Sunday morning service. At home
there is a routine to the days and we
are aware that everyone there loves
us. At church a prepared order of
service gives routine to the worship
with hymns, prayers, scriptures and
a message. And it is true that we
know everyone in the church family
loves us.

This passage is an expression of the
Golden Rule. Jesus increased His
circle to include all, even the tax
collectors and Gentiles of His day.
Psalm 149, the responsive psalm,
speaks of worshipping and praising
the Lord wherever believers gather.
Those scriptures and Rev. Cook’s
message talked of a real spirit of
sharing so everyone can get along in
peace and harmony whether
countries, families, community or
church. God encourages us to share
another’s good qualities with them.
Remembering, acknowledging and
forgiving each other makes the circle
of love wider. God calls us to be the
person. He wants us to be and to help
others reach their potential as
well.
