Sept. 18 the congregations from Knox Auburn and Londesborough United Churches will have a joint service celebrating the heritage of the Ball Church building. The original structure has undergone some recent restorations and the service will give members and guests a chance to appreciate the history as well as those efforts. A quaint century-and-a-half-old church on a hillside in the stillness of the country - what a lovely place to spend a Sunday morning. The Coffee Club continues to meet every Thursday morning at Stickers. As reported earlier, one of the founding members, Lois Haines, has moved to Fordwich. She returned this past Thursday to have lunch with her coffee friends. Coming along for the special day was Lois's daughter Margaret Livermore of Fordwich. They all enjoyed a nice ham and beef lunch at Stickers and went to the Auburn Hall for an afternoon program which included dessert. Best wishes from everyone with readings and poems were part of the afternoon party as were many house warming gifts for the guest of honour. Lois thanked everyone and invited them all to Fordwich. Jim and Grace Cartwright attended the Huron County Plowing Match held at Allen and Kim Walker’s farm on Belfast Road. Kim is daughter of Gerald and Carol McDowell. The Cartwrights then attended a pork chop dinner at the Belgrave Community Centre. There Jessica Feagan of Benmiller was crowned Queen of The Furrow. The Auburn Lion’s Club worked hard Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Goderich airport serving fly- ins and neighbours of the airport. With weather a bit unco-operative And the winner will be ... Members of the East Wawanosh Hunters will be vying for this year’s trophy to be presented in the fall The award goes to the hunter who bags the biggest buck of the season. From left are: Aime Labrie, last year’s winner, Ron Ritchie of Stickers, trophy sponsor and Gerald McDowell, one of the original hunters of the group. The club acknowledges the support of the many farmers who permit them to hunt on their land. (Photo submitted) on Saturday, Sunday was the busier of the two-day event. With the ongoing saga of Nancy Park and her tall handsome blond having been reported, this update may well interest many. Nancy attended a birthday party for Max, (a past house guest). They sang Happy Birthday, ate cake and Max even got a present from his puppy-love girl Josie Andrews. With poor Max tom between these two beautiful women - he is sure to end up in the doghouse soon. I will keep you posted. Brad Andrews was kept busy this weekend but he managed to make it to a friend’s wedding near Grand Bend. Good to see you aren’t always working, Brad.
