BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Aug. 21 were Fred
Meier and Joann MacDonald. Guest
pianist was Elva Brown.
The choir anthem was When the
Roll is Called Up Yonder.
The children’s hymn. Tell Me the
Stories of Jesus, was sung. The
children’s story was the Story of
Moses and the burning bush.
The lectionary scripture from
Exodus 3, the responsive reading
Psalm 105 and Romans 12: 9-21
were read by Jessica Sparling.
Rev. McGauley said the story of
the burning bush is an interesting
story. The bush looks burnt but it
never burns up. Moses sits and
watches the bush burning and hears
God calling him from the burning
bush. God asks Moses to lead His
people out of Egypt. Moses asked
God, who he should say has sent
him and God answers “I am”.
The burning bush is a symbol on
the United Church crest to remind
all that the church is strong.
