THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 2005. PAGE 7
Sympathy is extended to the
family ol the late Clara Peme. She
contributed to the community with
her painting and teaching skills over
the many years she lived in the
Cranbrook community. She had not
been able to be out and about often
tn her later years.
Aug. IX was a banner day at Joe
and Barb Terpstra's as one of their
cows had triplets (two bull calves
and a heifer). Joe says triplets haye
not been born on the farm since he
was a boy.
They had two other heifer calves
born that day as well. Joe. has also
been busy practising for the team
cattle penning that he will be
demonstrating with other riders
during the 2005 International
Ploughing Match at Carson barms.
Listowel in September.
It was nice to meet up with people
from far and near at the Open Doors
event in Brussels on Saturday. Many
had their first course lor lunch at the
Brussels Rail Station thanks to the
Brussels Optimists and were seen
having tea and goodies later at the
Melville Presbyterian Church.
Driving by we could see David
and Karen Smith have had a busy
summer with many golfing at then
River's Edge Golf Course. It has
been great to see people enjoying the
game.
Will and Andrew Knight from
Richmond Hill spent a few days on
holidays with Leslie and Yvonne
They visited Mary McTaggart in
Goderich also.
On Sunday evening some
Cranbrook residents attended the
salad supper sponsored by the
Monkton Presbyterian Church
Board of Managers.
Paige and Lucas Keffer have
returned home from a three-weck
vacation in California at the home of
Edna McLellan's sister.

Triplet calves
Triplet calves were born at the farm of Joe and Barb Terpstra of the Cranbrook area on Aug.
18. The triplets, two bulls and heifer were born to cow 273. It is rare for Holsteins to have
triplets. With the calves are the Terpstra’s children, Emily, Chelsey (holding Cole) and Alison.
Joe Terpstra’s twin sisters had their photo taken with triplet calves approximately 30 years
ago. (Jim Brown photo)
