Guns stolen in
residential break-ins
Huron East approves
zoning bylaw amendment
Huron OPP are investigating two
residential b'reak-ins that occurred in
Huron East in which firearms were
stolen.
On Aug. 12 at 11:30 p.m. the
owner of a house on Beechwood
Line reported that someone had
entered his home while he was away
that night between 6 p.m. and ll:30
p.m. The house was ransacked and
two Bell Expressview satellite
receivers, 20" Hitachi colour
television and two rifles were stolen.
The firearms were a .22 calibre
semi-automatic Remington rifle and
a .303 older army rifle.
The next day at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 13
officers were called to another
residence on Sports Drive in Huron
East. A house had been entered
through the night. Again the house
was ransacked. A DVD player,
movies, cordless phone. American
and Canadian currency, alcohol plus
a gun cabinet with five firearms
were stolen. The weapons were a
Cooey Model 840 20 gauge shotgun,
Savage Model 1904 .22 calibre bolt
action rifle, Savage .22 calibre
model 87D semi-automatic rifle, .38
calibre Colt revolver and a .32
calibre Hopkins and Allen Dictator
revolver.
Huron OPP are investigating both
of these break-ins and are following
up on a couple of leads.

A zoning bylaw amendment
affecting the wards of Brussels,
Seaforth and Tuckersmith was
approved at the Aug. 9 meeting of
Huron East council.
The purpose of the rezoning
amendment was to make text
additions and revisions to the
Brussels, Seaforth and Tuckersmith
zoning bylaws. As a text
amendment, the amendment affects
the three wards of Huron East which
contain settlement areas with full
services.
Senior planner Cindy Fisher of the
Huron County Planning and
Development Department indicated
the original zoning bylaws did not
anticipate the nature of
condominiums with respect to
private roads and units.
The amendment adds and replaces
Second dead crow tests
positive for West Nile virus
A second dead crow, found in the
Exeter area, has tested positive for
West Nile virus. To date, there have
not been any positive mosquitoes
detected in Huron County.
Mosquito surveillance has
increased in the areas where the
positive birds were found. Increased
bird mortality is often the first
sign of West Nile virus in a
community.
Dr. Beth Henning, medical officer
of health, reminds Huron County
residents and visitors to continue to
protect themselves and their families
from mosquito bites from now until
the firs^ frost. “The risk of being
bitten by an infected mosquito and
contracting the virus will be the

definitions in the Definitions section
and replace the General Provision
for Lots to Front on a Public road in
the General Provisions Section as
follows.
1. Add definitions for
Condominium Act, Planning Act
and Terms.
2. Delete the existing definition of
lot and replace it with a new
definition which would include:
* a lot in a plan of subdivision;
* a whole of a unit in a vacant land
condominium;
* a parcel of common elements
within a vacant land condominium
or within a common elements
condominium plan;
* the whole of the lands within a
standard condominium plan and
* a conveyable parcel.
3. Delete the existing general
