Great Lakes Suite opens at Gallery
The newest exhibition to open at
the Bainton Gallery features the
work of Leonard Jubenville in Great
Lakes Suite.
“The Great Lakes Suite is an on
going series of art which interprets
earth, sky. water and weather.” says
Jubenville. “These paintings are a
selection which are inspired by the
rhythms and cycles of natures in the
Great Lakes basin which is so
familiar to us. This familiarity,
however, tends to cause us to
overlook the fact that we live in one
of the earth's most notable features
recognized around the world."
This has motivated the artist not to
travel distances to seek subject
material, but rather to look at what is
his ordinary everyday light. The
diversity of topography and weather
provides a light which is sometimes
stirring, sometimes melancholic,
sometimes soft, sometimes harsh,
but always an adventure to the eye.
Jubenville graduated from the
Ontario College of Art and Design
and attended the University ol
Windsor.
His work has been displayed al art
galleries in Hamilton. Kitchener-
Waterloo, Mississauga, St. Thomas,
Sarnia as well as two galleries in
Michigan. Upcoming exhibitions
can be seen the the Windsor Capital
Theatre Gallery or the Thames Art
Gallery.
Jubenville currently resides in the
Chatham area.

Peter CoIley’s I'll Be Back Before
Midnight has been thrilling
audiences around the world for well
over 25 years.
The psychological mystery thriller
premiered at the Blyth Festival in
1979 and has been produced in over
24 countries (most recently in
Kenya), every state of the U.S.A,
and every province in Canada.
“We have transplanted Peter
Colley’s 1970’s Canadian gothic to
1955, determined to mine it for all of
its Hitchcock-ian potential”, says
director Eric Coates when
describing his vision for this
production. “Expect the unexpected
when you come to see this revival of
a Canadian Classic that has played
the world over. And, if you have any
reluctant friends who see the theatre
as a refuge for the elite, rest assured
this show will win them over with
the pure adrenaline rush that defines
a summer thriller.”
I'll Be Back Before Midnight plays
at the Blyth Festival Aug. 11 to Sept.
3 starring Sarah Allen, John Dolan,
Gil Garratt and Joanna Schellen-
