Eppie Lawrence, formerly of
Auburn, is grieving the loss of great-
grandson Logan. Born March 26,
2005, Logan Gary Francis
Bongertman. son of Steve and
Melinda (Smith) Bongertman of
Dungannon died as a result of
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
(SIDS). Melinda is the daughter of
Gary and Mary (Lawrence) Smith of
RR2, Auburn.
Also left to mourn is Logan’s big
brother, four-year-old Brandon,
grandparents, Frank and Sserta
Bongertman of Ashfield Twp. as well
as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral for Logan was held at the
McKenzie Funeral Home in
Lucknow followed by a gathering at
the home of Gary and Mary Smith.
Logan was laid to rest in Dungannon
Cemetery. Sympathies go out to all
the families.
Sympathies also go out to Cathy
Carter and family. Cathy’s mother,
May Collision, of Teeswater, passed
away recently and our thoughts are
with the family at this time.
Auburn community sends its
sympathy to the family and friends of
Harold Gross. His funeral was held at
Knox Church Aug. 3. Wife Bernice,
children Carol, Paul and Terry as well
as grandchildren are left to mourn
their loss. Harold farmed for many
years just east of Auburn. Our
thoughts are with you all at this time.
Lillian Logtenberg recently
returned home from Stratford
hospital and I am told she has had a
return visit to hospital. We wish her
all the best.
Rev. Paul and Ruth Ross's
daughter Jen is getting married in
October. The wedding will be held at
Bloor Street United. Both bride and
groom have fathers who are ministers
and they will both have a chance to
just be parents for the event. For most
fathers that is enough. The assistant
minister at Bloor Street United will
be presiding over the nuptials.
Neighbours, friends and community
wish everyone all the best.
Rev. Pat Cook had a wonderful
relaxing holiday on an Alaskan
cruise. She is looking forward to
returning to her pastor work however
with Knox church services resuming
this Sunday Aug. 15 at 9:30 a.m.
Congratulations to Sandy and
Shirley Andrews who celebrated their
45th wedding anniversary at the
home of Brent and Vicki Andrews.
They have four sons Bradley, Darcy,
Brent, and Ian and six grandchildren.
Neighbours, friends and family wish
them many more years.
As earlier reported Nancy
(Anderson) Park had a handsome
blond guest staying with her for a few
days. Along with Nancy, Max was
also at the anniversary party giving
Nancy a chance see him again.
Patricia Robinson has returned
from Thunder Bay for a month of
holidays. She is attending Lakehead
University in the nursing program.
Patricia has completed two years and
will be returning in September.
During her last year she will be
placed in northern outposts to assist
in medical clinics and hospitals. She
is keeping her options open after
graduation but one consideration is
returning to Africa. Good luck
whatever you choose.
Alice McDowell and Kim Walker
just returned from a tour of Boston by
motor coach from Impact Tours. The
ladies say it was fabulous.
Caroline McDowell spent last
week with Grandma and Grandpa
Woodward and cousins in Port
Rowan. A great time was enjoyed.
Vancouver visitors with Jack and
Elva Armstrong of Auburn, were
Elva’s two sisters Irene Wiley and
Clarrisa Price and niece Maureen and
Jerry Glaum.
To inspire
A dinner to help promote the Blyth Festival was held at the
Thresher’s shed #3 following the performance. Actors did
scenes from plays and Adrian Churchill talked about how
much he enjoyed life in Huron County. Cappy Onn
entertained with music from the upcoming Spirit of the
Narrows. (Vicky Bremner photo)
THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY. AUGUST 11, 2005. PAGE 17.
The visit brought together five-
siblings, which included area
residents Harold and Cliff Carter
along with the aforementioned for
much laughter and reminiscing over
old family photos. The family
attended the wedding of Cliff's
granddaughter. Johanna, and gave
everyone a chance to make more
memories and take new photos for
future generations to reminisce and
visit over.
