Obituaries
THERESA MARIE BARRETT
Mrs. Theresa Barrett of Kitchener
passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital
on Monday. Aug. I. 2005. She was
80.
The former Theresa Halley was
the beloved wife of the late Herbert
Benedict (1982) and the late Eric
Barrett (1996). She was the dear
mother of Dianne Benedict of
Fordwich, Madeline and Harold
Laffin of RR2, Blyth and Herbert
and Karen Benedict of Kit
chener.
She was also survived by seven
grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Barrett was predeceased by
parents Edward and Theresa
(O'Brien) Halley, by brothers Alex,
Doug, John, Ned, Tommy, Patrick
and sisters Madeline and Rita.
Theresa was born in Topsail,
Newfoundland on Sept. 12, 1924.
She was a WWII veteran and served
in the Canadian Women’s Army
Corps. (CWAC).
Visitation was at the McBumey
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at
Sacred Heart Roman Catholic
Church on Friday at 11 a.m.
Father John Jasica officiated.
Interment was in Wingham
Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Heart
and Stroke Foundation of Ontario
would be appreciated as expressions
of sympathy.
CWL Prayers were held in the
funeral home on Thursday at 3:45
p.m.
ROBERT HEWITT BREMNER
Bob Bremner of Ethel passed
away surrounded by his family at
Listowel Memorial Hospital on
Monday. Aug. 1,2005. Born in Grey
Twp. on Oct. 18, 1927. Bob was in
his 78th year.
Bob will be sadly missed by his
wife of 55 years. . Isabelle
(McMichael) Bremner and his
daughters Joan Morgan and husband
John of Ilderton, Brenda Phillips and
husband Fred of Lucknow, Kathy
Nesbitt and husband Maurice of
Shedden, Mary Raszmann and
husband Karl of Monkton, Donna
Bremner and husband Ron Yarema
of Winnipeg, and Karen Wettlaufer
and husband Nolan of Tavistock. He
was the dear brother of Doris of
Clinton and Bill and his wife Anne
of Oakville. Bob was a special
grandfather to Gillian, Kristin, Julie,
Andy, Morgan, Lee, Rae-Lynn,
Jessie, Kevin, Karla. Adam, Alex
and Tyson.
He was predeceased by his parents
Andrew and Venetta Bremner.
Friends were received by the
family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Thursday at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, Brussels. The funeral
service was conducted from Ethel
United Church on Friday, Aug. 5 at 2
p.m. with Rev. Joan Golden
officiating.
Carrying floral tributes were
grandchildren Gillian Morgan, Lee
Nesbit, Julie Phillips, Rae-Lynn
Nesbitt, Andy Phillips, Jessie
Nesbitt, Morgan Phillips, Kevin
Raszmann, Karla Raszmann, Adan
Wettlaufer. Alex Wettlaufer and
Tyson Wettlaufer.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe
Semple and Don Dunbar. Pallbearers
were Bill Pearson. Bob Alexander.
Allan Martin, Bill Eckmier, Jim
Cooper and Doug Evans.
Interment was in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery. Ethel.
Memorial donations may be made
to Ethel United Church or to the
Listowel Memorial Hospital
Foundation.

FRANK ELLIOTT
Mr. Frank Elliott, a lifelong
resident of Blyth. passed away at
Clinton Public Hospital on Monday,
Aug. 1. 2005 at the age of 91 years.
Frank was the beloved husband
for 61 years of Dorothy (Peck)
Elliott. He will also be sadly missed
by his family, Ron Elliott and his
wife Gail of Bobcaygeon and
daughter Jacquelyn; Bruce Elliott
and his wife Brenda of Guelph and
their children Jenny, James, Daniel
and Greg; Pat and her husband
David Hann of Exeter, their daughter
Becky and her husband Jeff McInnis
of Ilderton and their children
Kathryn and Jason; also Pat and
David’s sons, Geoff, Bryce and
Andrew, and Frank's youngest
daughter Lynn Elliott and her son
Graham Scott of Toronto.
Frank was predeceased by his
parents J.H.R. Elliott and Ada
(Boyd) Elliott, his brothers Bertram,
Gordon and Alex, and sister
Gertrude Wettlaufer.
Frank was the owner of Elliott Bus
Lines and for many years drove
Blyth and area students to Clinton
High School, beginning in 1946
until 1977.
Frank was Past Master of Blyth
Masonic Lodge No. 303, and Past
Worthy Patron of Blyth Regal
Chapter Order of the Eastern Star,
No. 266, a member of Mocha
Temple Shrine, London, the London
Lodge of Perfection and Scottish
Rite and was a member of the Shrine
Motor Corps.
A private family funeral service
was held. Donations to the Clinton
Public Hospital Foundation would
be appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.
Funeral arrangements were
entrusted to the Falconer Funeral
Homes Ltd., Clinton (519-482-
9521).
HAROLD WILLIAM GROSS
Mr. Harold William Gross of
Clinton and formerly of Auburn
passed away at Seaforth Manor
Nursing Home on Sunday, July 31,
2005 in his 80th year.
He was the beloved husband of
Bernice Marie (Durst) Gross. He
was the loving father of Paul and
Carol Gross of Blyth, Carol and
Larry Lovett of Clinton and Terry
Gross and Kathy Lorenz of
Neustadt. He was loved and will be
sadly missed by his seven
grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. Mr. Gross was the
dear brother and brother-in-law of
Carman and Christine Gross of
Auburn, Elva and John Brown of
Blyth, Gordon and Bernice Gross of
Auburn, Marguerite Gross of
Goderich and Alexandra Gross of St.
Catharines.
He was predeceased by brothers
Walter, Clayton and Ronald Gross.
A memorial service was held at
Knox United Church. Auburn on
Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. A
private family interment took place
at Blyth United Cemetery. As
expressions of sympathy donations
to the Clinton Public Hospital
Foundation would be appreciated.
A memorial service was held by
the Blyth Masonic Lodge A.F. &
A.M. No. 303 on Wednesday at
10:45 a.m.
Funeral arrangements were
