Hospital Aux. hears anniversary plans At the June meeting of the Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital, hospital board chair Verna Steffler spoke to the members on the proposed plans for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the hospital in 2006. She described the many projects and special events that will be taking place throughout the year, and suggested how the Auxiliary can be part of the celebration. Members decided to host a tea in the autumn of 2006 as one of their projects. Auxiliary Historian Isabel Arbuckle is asking members to contribute any photographs, stories or articles that will add interest to the auxiliary’s displays. Mrs. Steffler also outlined the hospital’s master plan whereby major expansion and changes will be made to areas for emergency, operating rooms, and patient care. She stressed how important community support will be, as the Ministry of Health will fund 50 per cent of the cost only if the community has raised 50 per cent. Marlene Leedham thanked members for their help with the closing bridge party, where 44 guests played bridge, and five players were honoured for their many years of participating in hospital bridge. Jo English reported on a very successful spring conference held in Clinton, attended by seven Wingham members. The fall conference will be held in Goderich on Sept. 26. Throughout the summer, volunteers will continue to staff the gift shop, which is stocked with lovely gift items and everyday necessities, and is open daily from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Clas adverti Business Directory Vholdice} < j Insurance Ltd. ‘‘Locally owned & operated” P.O.
