Agriculture Brussels Livestock report 2,202 head of cattle on offer at sale Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending July 8 were 2,202 head of cattle, 824 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold $2 higher. Choice steers and heifers sold $89 to $94 with sales to $ 115; second-cut steers and heifers sold $85 to $90. The cows >old $3 to $4 higher. On Thursday the veal sold on strong market with prices $2 to $3 higher. Lambs sold on an active higher trade. On Friday the calves and yearlings sold $2 to $3 higher. There were 583 steers on offer. A simmental steer consigned by Dave Baker. Brussels, weighed 1,390 lbs. sold for $115 with his overall offer­ ing of six steers averaging 1,436 lbs. sold for an average of $108.24. Eleven steers consigned by Owen B Martin. Wellesley, averaging < .353 lbs. selling for an average of $ 102.57 with sales to $112.50. Iwelve steers consigned by Emerson L. Martin, Linwood, aver­ aging 1,462 lbs. selling for an aver­ age of $100.37 with sales to $105.25. A limousin steer consigned by Mark Wiersma, Walton, weighing 1.305 lbs. sold for $97.25. Thirty- nine steers consigned by Cunningham Noland Cattle Co., Lucan, averaging 1,369 lbs. selling tor an average of $96.54 with sales to $100. Two steers consigned by Irvin Schenk, Baden, averaging 1.320 lbs. sold for an average of $96.29 with sales to $105.50. Thirteen steers consigned by Dave Bender, Palmerston, averaging 1,247 lbs. sold for an average of $95 with sales to $97.50. Nineteen steers consigned by Lester Gingerich, Kenilworth, averaging 1,389 lbs. sold for an average of $94.73 with sales to $106.50. Forty steers consigned by Dennis Dietrich, Dashwood, averaging 1.396 lbs. sold for an average of $92.64 with sales to $98.75. Fourteen steers consigned by Solomon B. Martin, Wallenstein, averaging 1,320 lbs. sold for an average of $89.65 with a blonde steer weighing 1,310 lbs. sold for $103.25. There were 347 heifers on offer. Two limousin heifers consigned by John Richardson, Harriston, averag­ ing 1,580 lbs. sold for an average of $97.92 with sales to $105.25. Eleven heifers consigned by Darren Johnston, Bluevale, averaging 1.197 lbs. sold for an average of $88.37 with sales to $94.50. Two limousin heifers consigned by Liz McFalls Feedlot, Parkhill, averaging 1,245 lbs. sold for $92.75. Thirty-two black heifers con­ signed by Jim Thompson, Ailsa Craig, averaging 1,204 lbs. sold for $92.45 with sales to $100. A black heifer consigned by Mike Dow, Staffa, weighed 1,100 lbs. sold to Dominion Meat Packers for $92. Twelve heifers consigned by Ian Johnston, Bluevale, averaging 1.147 lbs. sold for an average of $89.47 with sales to $95.50. Three heifers consigned by David Bowles, Brussels, averaging 1,415 lbs. sold for an average of $89.44 with sales to $93.75. Seventeen heifers consigned by Larry Gardiner, Staffa, averaging 1.300 lbs. sold for an average of $88.41 with sales to $102. Eight heifers consigned by Alan Strobosser, Jarvis, averaging 1.177 lbs. sold for an average of $86.13 with sales to $92.25. There were 182 cows on offer. D1 and D2 cows sold $30 to $40 with sales to $46.50; D3. $25 to $30; D4, $15 to $20. A charolais cow con­ signed by John L. Miller, Lucknow, weighed 1.395 lbs. sold for $46.50. Five cows consigned by Rudy Nauta, L'stowel, averaging 1,329 lbs. sold for an average of $44.12 with sales to $44. A blonde cow consigned by Glen Warwick Farms Ltd.. Bluevale, weighing 1,565 lb$. sold for $42. There were 12 bulls on offer sell­ ing $29 to $34 with sales to $45. A black bull consigned by Mel Weber, Wingham, weighing 1,945 lbs. sold for $45. A limousin bull consigned by Samuel H. Martin, Chesley, weighing 2.135 lbs. sold for $43.50. There were 208 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $100 to $115 with sales to $123; good holstein, $85 to $90 with sales to $94; medium hol­ stein, $75 to $85; plain and heavy holstein, $60 to $70. Three veal consigned by J & B Laidlaw Farms Ltd., Atwood, averaging 647 lbs. sold for an average of $91.37 with sales to $ 123. Six veal consigned by Mark and Paul Pennington, Mildmay, averaging 693 lbs. sold for an average of $95.07 with sales to $120. A gold heifer veal con­ signed by Roger Woods, Mount Forest, weighing 610 lbs. sold for $109. Lambs, 50 - 64 lbs. sold $155 to $185; 65 - 79 lbs., $146 to $170; 80 - 94 lbs., $138 to $155; 95 - 109 lbs., $120 to $158; 110 lbs. and over, $138 to $160. Sheep sold $39 to $90. Goats sold $30 to $190. Top quality Stocker steers under 400 lbs. sold $132 to $145; 400 - 499 lbs., $ 128 to $ 135.50; 500 - 599 lbs., $106 to $128; 600 - 699 lbs., $104.50 to $123; 700 - 799 lbs., $99.50 to $117.50; 800 - 899 lbs., $106 to $116; 900 - 999 lbs., $89 to $107; 1,000 lbs. and over, $86.75 to $107.
