Ann and John Nesbit, Sharon and Bruce Bromley, Linda and Fred Meier and Linda and Ken Bird have returned home after an enjoyable trip to the west. While there, they visited with Pete and Joanne deJong of High River and had coffee with Keith and Joyce VanCamp. Ann and John Nesbit visited with cousin Gail (McWhirter) and Bob Hodgins of Calgary and Wayne and Lucy Wilson of Edmonton (former residents of Brussels). They also visited with Pat Shaw’s sister Ann’s, aunt Elsie. Fred and Linda Meier visited with Bill Hamm and family. Sharon and Bruce Bromley visited with cousins Rob and Jen Rich of Sylvan Lake. It was cold and rained a lot but everyone enjoyed a trip. Among the highlights were Banff and Lake Louise. While there Linda and Ken Bird celebrated their 3()th wedding anniversary. Janet Baillie of Colbourg spent a few days with Ralph and Amy McCrea and attended the Blyth Festival to see The Ginkgo Tree. Ralph and Amy McCrea and Maureen Montgomery spent last week travelling to Kingston to visit Margaret and Stanley Rolands. Margaret played in Gone to Glory several years ago. They also visited with Ralph’s cousin Laura Bowen, then went on to see Lipper Canada Village, Smith Falls and the Hershey Chocolate Factory (which was very interesting to see). After that was on to Peterborough to see the lift locks and then back home. Many relatives and friends gathered at the home of Ed and Nancy Daer, Wingham on Saturday, July 9 to help celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary hosted by Tricia Daer, London and Terry, Julie and Josh of Barrie. Special guests were Vera and John Evans, Sarnia; Mait and Mary Edgar. Petrolia; Helen Stonchouse and Irlma Edgar. Wingham and Ruth Pipe of Brussels. Others came from Atwood, Aurora. Barrie, Belgrave, Blenheim. Blyth, Brigden, Brussels, Clinton, Goderich, Londesborough, London, Lucan, Lucknow, Mitchell, New Hamburg, Petrolia, Sarnia, Stratford, Tavistock, Tiverton, Toronto and Wingham. Happy birthday to Janis Vodden who celebrates her birthday July 16. Happy birthday to Kim (Craig) Hornyak ofStrathroy who celebrates her birthday July 19. Emily and Amanda Craig ol Waterloo are visiting with their grandparents, Bodie and Ollie Craig of Blyth. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, July IO was Joann MacDonald. Ushers were Pat and Harv Bernard and Rob and Karen Mason. Margaret Kai was guest organist. The congregation was favoured with a solo by Dane Corneil. Rev. Robin McGauley told the children the story of how God made the world. He made Adam and Eve to be partners with him to help finish the world. A partner is one with whom you work and whom you depend upon The lcctionary gospel reading was Matthew 13: 1-I3, 16-23. The responsive reading Psalm Il9 was followed by Rev. McCauley's message to the adults. Secrets of the Kingdom. The prayer heard most often in churches is The Lord's Prayer. Jesus talked in parable so the ordinary people could understand the secrets of God’s Kingdom. Parables are like puzzles and people want to know' the answers. Dane Corneil favoured the congregation with another solo. 'til 8 pm A crew of Stewardship Rangers was in Blyth last week and this week working at the Memorial Garden and the Greenway Trail. The crew is composed of four 17-year-olds who are interested in natural resources and expanding their opportunities in this field.
