Grey students organize pop tab collection
Congratulations to Matthew Swart
and Jasmin Roth who organized a
collection of pop tabs at Grey Central
Public Schbol. They weighed and
counted 20,000 tabs at 6.1 kg. and
delivered them to the Legion in
Brussels.
The Legion sent the tabs on to buy
wheelchairs for the community.
Please keep collecting your tabs
and in the fall the children at Grey
Central will be collecting them again.
Matthew and Jasmin will collect the
tabs from any church in the area
should they want to become involved
in this project
On Tuesday. June 28 Grey Central
was decorated with the theme By The
Sea. for their Grade 8 graduation
night with a row boat, life preservers
and lines, a lighthouse sea shells,
plants and decorations.
There were 23 graduates this year.
Many awards were given out.
Congratulations to Paige Keffer,
daughter of Murray Keffer and Peggy
who won (he Ida Evans Citizenship
Award presented by Ruth Bauer on
behalf of the Majestic Women’s
Institute.
Congratulations to the trio of
Marion Harrison, Joyce Knowles,
and Lil Murphy representing
southern Ontario from the
Molesworth bowling alley who came
home with the silver medal after
bowling in Chilliwack, BC in the
national competition. Northern
Ontario won the gold and Alberta
won the bronze.
They bowled 10 games winning
eight and were only three pins behind
first place when it was over.
People from the area attended the
World Fastball Invitational
tournament held in Monkton on the
weekend. There were eight teams
from Madison. Wisconsin. Kitchener.
Denmark. Wisconsin, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, Marathon. Wisconsin,
Saskatoon. Calgary, and Midland.
Michigan.
Brian Baillie and his host of
volunteers can be congratulated on a
well-run tournament.
The United Church and the
Presbyterian Church hosted a beef
barbecue on Saturday evening and
the Monkton firefighters fed many
people on Sunday morning.
With live entertainment both
Friday and Saturday night, the
weekend was jam packed. County
Materials from Marathon won the
tournament with the runners-up
being the Farm Tavern from
Madison.

at the party hosted by Allan Edgar,
Viola Adams, Neil Hatt and Edna
McLellan.
The travelling lone hand prize went
to Dorothy Dilworth and the share-
the-wealth winners were Neil Hatt
and Alice Keffer. Helen Dobson was
high lady and Adrian Verstoep had
the most points for the men. Marion
Hani son had the low score. Tied for
the most lone hands were Isabelle
Craig and Jeanette Toner for the
ladies and Allan Edgar for the men.
