Seaforth graduation like the ‘Hollywood Grammys’ lees and swims By Alexander Cardno Two mice fall into a cup of cream. One mouse gives up all hope of liv ing. does noth ing, and drowns. The other mouse makes a decision to do what he can. moves his about the cream enabling him to turn the cream into butter. He is then able to climb out of the cup and go on with his life. This story teaches us that we can achieve anything that we set our minds to when faced with a problem. Fellow graduates, family, friends, teachers, and honoured guests, It has been a long road, full of bumps; twists and turns but we’ve finally made it! We started out as little chil dren clenching onto our parents' side and have grown into mature young adults. Along the way we have made mistakes but have also achieved success. Class trips to Waterloo University and Camp Celtic taught us virtues such as per severance and self-confidence. Not all of us have been a part of Seaforth Public School from the beginning. We welcomed Walton Public School in the fourth grade and have made valuable friends as a result of this amalgamation. Sadly we have also lost some of our closest friends. We remember Rob Graham whose laugh could be heard across the playground and who was a friend to many. Rob tragically passed away in a car accident in the sixth grade. This year’s Grade 8 graduation theme is the Hollywood Grammy’s. This is actually a very appropriate theme for us. Today is the day that all of our hard work and persever ance pays off. Our teachers and fam ilies have molded us into what we are today. It is as though we are actors in a movie and our teachers and families have been the directors and producers of our lives. We have CLASS OF 2005 — The Seaforth Public Sehool tirade 8 graduates arc, back row, from left: Lukas Biesinger, TVler Hart, lyior Marion, Alan Rowntree, Kyle Glanville, Scott Dow, Terry Bressette, Matthew Kanierman, David East, Justin Arts, Ben Shepherd, Brent Vincent. Not one but all have received the award. We are the mice who worked to accomplish his goals. We have faced our difficulties and have worked and worked at them to the point of accomplishing that which we desired. We have achieved some thing by getting this far standing here and accepting our hard earned Grade 8 diploma. I’m sure that the past 10 years don’t seem so special now, but we’ll look back on them as the glory years. Had it not been for those who supported us and expected nothing but the best from us we would not be the graduates we are today. If it weren’t for our teachers from kindergarten to Grade 8 going to school wouldn’t be the same. They helped us from coaching teams to preparing us for the chess tourna ment to helping us with the year book. We can’t forget the lady who helped us rain or shine. She knew each and everyone of us by name and made sure we arrived at school safely. Thank you Mary. We are only as bright as those who have taught us. We Jhank you all for loving us, pushing us and believing in us. In a short period of time a new chapter of our lives will begin. We will be faced with new challenges such as making new friends, keeping up in school by making new and bet ter study habits, and probably even start working part-time to pay for college or university. I’m sure that we will all do just fine even when faced with difficult situations if we just remember the little mouse that wouldn’t give up until he solves his problems. As we walk out of this school tonight we will shut the door to pub lic school and open another door, which leads to high school, with new surprises waiting around every bend. Some of the familiar'faces with us tonight will not be with us in our future experiences whether they are good or bad. Some of them will be attending different high schools, col leges and universities. As a way of holding on to our friends, memories of tonight and eighth grade at Seaforth Public School, I would like to give each graduate a 2005 coin. My hope is that each time you see a 2005 coin you will remember the friends you made, topight, and your time at Seaforth Public School.
