On behalf of all the graduates. I would like to welcome you to our gradua tion. It is a great honour to be speak ing to you on behalf of this year’s class. I hope everyone has had good night so far. Wow! I am having a hard time believing that this night is finally here. For all of us. tonight will bring mixed emotions. Graduation is like the clos ing of one door and the opening of another. The closing of the door at Hullett will bring sadness as we leave our comfortable setting and happiness because it allows us to open the next door on our journey. The staff and all the experiences we have had. in the warm Hullett environment has pre pared us for our next adventure, high school. Our very first memories at Hullett start out with the caring ways of Mrs. Kemp. She helped us by giving some of us the first experience away from mom and dad. She showed us that we could survive a whole day away from our parents. We learned so much those first two years. Sharing was one of the main things. She also taught us to become our own person and be ourself, with her soft spoken manner. We conquered the first two years of school. We were then off to Grade I with Ms Weise. We were now going to school every day. It was a little bit of a shock. We all got over it by the first couple of weeks, with her guidance and help. She introduced more school work than play time which pul us on the path to our academic future. Ms Weise was always upbeat which made it a very happy place to come every day. Next we were off to Grade 2 with Mrs. Pletch. She introduced to us the 4Rs - reading, writing, arithmetic, and recess. The best part of Grade 2 was our class pet. Dexter. He was either guinea pig or hamster. We could all have turns taking him home for the weekend. Mr. Sanders was our Grade 3 teacher. He taught a great pioneer unit and had great enthusiasm which made every thing we learned fun and exciting. He kept us wondering whether he ought to shoot us that day or the next but we knew we were sate tirade 4 brought many new things. It was the first year our tiny group was split up. We made new friends with other grades Some of us were on the senior side and some were still on the junior side. Mrs Pickell. Mr. Medd and Mr. Caldwell kept us on the right track that year. In Grade 5 we were reunited again with Mr. Caldwell. We all adjusted well in his class because of his soft spoken personality. He helped us grow up as we got homework and tests. For Grades 6 and 7 we all became very close with Mrs. Gilroy, especially the girls. We will always remember those great conversations at recess. We have missed her this year. In September we started Grade X and here we are in June, graduates. Mr. Drennan has helped us get ready lor high school. Not just academically but mentally and emotionally. He has helped us mature over the year. This year has gone by so fast and its been exciting. Our talks about current events have helped us get ready for the “Real World”. Thanks Mr. Drennan for your dedication to us. We can't forget about Mrs. Vandeheuval with her good sense of humour. We also appreciated what Mrs. Tebbutt. Mrs. Miller. Ms Wyatt. Mdm Turcotte and Mr. Bosman have con tributed to our years at Hullett. Our supportive parents have also played a huge role to our success, with all their continuous support, hard work and patience. Who we are now. we owe to ail these great people who have helped us along the way. Tonight. 1 am experiencing mixed emotions. Sadness for what we leave behind and the difficult good-byes. Happiness for all that lies ahead. We have so many opportunities, to, be the best we can be. We still have so much to learn and so many of life’s lessons that we have not experienced. That is what this whole night is all about. The opening of the new door starts tonight. Already, our paths divide as some of us go to CHSS and some to St. Anne s. 1 would like to congratulate my fel low classmates for making it through these past 10 years. We have had so much fun over that time. Some of us will remain the best of friends, while some of us may never see each other again. Let’s reach for the moon, and even if we miss it. we will still be among the stars. Good luck graduates, as we begin our exciting new adventure.
