Bus begins journey for East Wawanosh students By Mathew Stevenson Good evening graduates, teachers, bus drivers, parents and guests. I have been given the honour of being the < lass of 2005 valedictorian. I want to thank my class mates for giving me this opportuni ty and I would also like to welcome the parents, teach ers and guests here to celebrate this very special moment in our lives. We hope that sou will continue to support us through all the years to come. Our journey through public school began on the first day of junior kinder garten when that yellow bus stopped at I he end of the lane. We stepped onto that first step and when we turned around we saw the flash of a camera go off and a tear run down Mom's face. As the years went on school became our second home and the kids we met that first day became our life long friends. I could go on and talk about every vear and the experiences we had but I would rather talk about the graduates who have become awesome friends. Blame Hallahan the only one I know to have a goatee in Grade 8. Glaren Yuill our class’s walking dic tionary and the one you always want ed to sit beside during spelling. Jamie Losh is the speed demon in w ater shoes. Jess Mullin - with this guy around there is never a dull moment. Kristen and Lacey MeArter - I don’t think Ms Gardiner will ever get these two straight. Jeanine VanCamp is the quiet one with a big heart. Adel Dodds is always helping around the classroom, a certain future teacher. Adam Wesselink is (he one who can run long distances no problem. Tammy Freiburger is the one we all know will make it to (he Olympics. Jordan Smith is the kid who knows everything with a motor. Marcella Wolf is another quiet one. who always had a nice thing to say. Jessica Green made the class com plete with her arrival this year. B.J. Nethery is the one with the last comment on any topic. Jeremy Anderson is the one who got along with everybody. And me Mathew Stevenson is the one they love to pick on. Why else would they make me write (his speech What a fantastic bunch of people. Notice I didn't call us kids. Our Ottawa trip will be forever in our memory. It is probably the last time this group of people will all be together on the same bus. The long ride, the boat cruise in the rain, the* spook} walk of Ottawa, the inside ol .Notre Dame Basilica, and many other memorable moments. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. I can't believe this is our last year at EWPS. High school will bring new challenges and successes for all of us. We are ready for it and I wish the best of luck to my fellow classmates in everything they do and remember guys always stand for something or you will fall for everything. To our principals, our teachers and our t?us drivers who have taught us. encouraged us and prepared us for the years to come, we thank you. Starting in September, each of us will continue the journey, but scattered across several schools. By the end of high school, we will be scattered across the province - and beyond. And by graduation from community college and university, we will be scattered across the ever-shrinking planet. Who knows? Maybe one of us will be managing the hotel Sir Richard Branson plans to build on the moon? I wish each of you much health, hap piness and success. Remember your roots.
