Family fishing derby at
Falls Reserve this weekend
The Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority (MVCA) invites anglers
ot all ages to cast then lines at the
family Fishing Derby on Saturday.
July 9. The Fishing Derby is being
held at Falls Reserve Conservation
Area from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This
event is an opportunity for families
to try fishing while visiting the
scenic conservation area.
Sponsored by local businesses and

The Brussels U-7 Team IV had
another great week.
The team is getting closer to a win.
Gregory Ward scored the only goal in
their latest outing and Zack Bastien
and Delayna Smith played great in
net. Konrad McArter and Shaclynn
Cloakly had some great chances to
score.

Brussels U-5s win
The Brussels U-5s played Wednesday. June 29.
Despite the heat the kids gave it their all.
Russel Machan scored four and Hudson Smith and Katelyn Wick each
scored one in this 6-4 victory.
Goalies Jake Barker and Darren Evans did a great job but opponent

Brussels II loses first
The Brussels Ils suffered their first loss of the year.
It was an intense game. Wyatt Ducharme scored the only goal in this 6-1
outcome but Mitchell Kellington, Alyssa Cronin and Lexi Smith had some
hard shots.
Great defence came from Ben Hruska and Kristen Pipe.
Goalies Tim Waechter and Matt McNichol were on fire. McNichol made a
great penalty shot save.
Heather Hastings did manage to score four against them.

participant receives a hotdog ami
drink as well as a participation
certificate.
Proceeds from the event will he
used to support environmental
education activities at the park
Don t let a lack ol equipment stop
you from participating, fishing
poles and tackle are available at the
park on a first-come first-serve basis
This equipment has been provided
through the tackle share program
that is supported by lhe Ontario
Ministry of Natural Resources and
lhe Ontario federation ot Anglers
and Hunters.
The family fishing Derby is part
of the annual Ontario family fishing
Weekend. Between 12:01 a.m. on
July S until 1 1:59 p.m. on July It).
Canadian residents can enjoy lhe fun
of fishing without a licence. You
must respect all ol Ontario's other
fishing rules and regulations. For

Fishing derby participants may

family camping facilities. Camping
reservations are recommended.
