A White reunion was held at the
home of Randy and Donna White on
Saturday. June 25 hosted by
Clarence White. Doris (White)
Fischer. Ken White and their
families.
The 2005 reunion was held in
memory of their parents John and
Mary White, their sister Feme
(White) Craven, their brother Ross
White, Ross’s son Jackie White.
Mary Ellen (White) Wood's son J.R.
Wood and Ken Fischer Doris’s
husband. There were over 130 in
attendance.
Whites. Fischers and Cravens
attended from Wallaceberg.
Bowmanville. Severn Bridge.
Kincardine. London. Ridgetown.
Listowel, Kurtzville and around the
Brussels area. Games were played
and much time was spent getting
reacquainted.
A hot buffet was served in Ken
and Randy’s shed and the evening
was spent reminiscing.

Sisters
Morning Star Rebekah Lodge met
on Tuesday, June 28 with sisters
from Listowel, Wingham and
Waterloo attending.
Receiving a warm welcome were
Sisters Leola Harrison, Phyllis
Thompson and Marlene Osborn
from Listowel and Sister Reta
Merkley. Wingham and her
daughter from Waterloo.
Sister Elva Brown. Noble Grand,
attended the decoration service at
Brussels Cemetery, Sunday, June
26.
Convalescing is Sister Sarah
Stephenson. Members wish her the
best for a speedy recovery.
The first meeting of the new
season to be held Sept. 13 will
begin with dinner at JR’s. Contact
Sister Betty Cardiff or the lunch
convenor if you plan to attend.
A social time and cake,
strawberries and ice cream was
enjoyed.

16 at general meeting

The general meeting of the
Brussels Legion was held Tuesday
evening, June 28 with 16 members
present. Topics covered included the
need for a treasured the financial
situation and the many fundraising
activities in July. There are fish fries
in Lucknow, Brussels and Seaforth,
catering to a wedding reception and
providing food at the Brussels
fastball tournament on July 22. 23
and 24.
Volunteers will be needed to help,
especially for the tournament, so be
prepared for the call.
There was no meal on Friday as
the Branch was closed. This week is
roast pork.
The fish fry crew was off to
Lucknow to celebrate Canada Day
and to cook fish and french fries for
the over 240 celebrants. The crew
included John and Julie Harrison,
Sandra and Catrina Josling and
Lloyd and Mabel Glanville. Good
job folks.
There were 16 tables of euchre
players competing Saturday. The top
prize winners with 88 points were
Mabel and Fay. Second prize went to
Gloria Love and Betty Hulley with
84 points and the third prize was
split between two teams with 70
points each. They were Bob and
Dorothy Dalton and Rita Flynn and
Mary Colson.
Graduation
Daughter of Sheri Hilker and
Chuck Mason has graduated
from Lambton College in
Sarnia. She has her diploma
in Business-Marketing.

Low prize went to Ivan Bennewies
and Roy Beuermann with just 38
points. Lone hand prizes went to
Bush Whittard and Helen Dobson.
Euchre is every two weeks.
The Branch hosted a seniors
luncheon on Tuesday with almost 70
Brussels and area seniors enjoying
the noon meal. Diners were
welcomed by seniors chairpersons.
Charlie and Grace Proctor, and the
melodious tunes played by Alf
Sutton.
After the meal, guest speakers Ed
and June Pyette spoke on seniors’
scams.
The afternoon was completed with
old tunes sung by Janna Dodds,
Canadian
Cancer
Society
HEILMANNS-
accompanied by Donald Dunbar.
The Sunday night dancers enjoyed
the music of Country Ways. Over 70
kept cool and kept the dance
floor full. Dances are every two
weeks.
The Branch is in need of more
people to look after some of the
events. A chairperson is needed to
head up the annual craft show held
the first weekend in November.
Comrade Marg Bennett has been
head of this event for many years
and has retired as chair. She is
willing to help out and pass on her
wisdom to someone new.

Challenge
Choir
eoming
to town
The Teen Challenge Choir from
London will present a music program
focusing on freedom from drug
addiction at the farm of Howard and
Alice Martin, 99 MacDonald Dr.,
Brussels on Sunday, July 10, 10 a.m.
This is an outdoor worship service
sponsored by Brussels Mennomte
Fellowship.
From gangs to crime, to mainline
drug addiction, each member of this
20-voice male choir has his own
story of how he finally found
freedom.
This event is suitable for all ages
and is free of charge. A noon potluck
meal will follow the service. Contact
