The June meeting of the Melville
Guild was held at the home of
Margaret Work on Tuesday, June 21
with 11 members present. What a
Friend We Have in Jesus and Praise
the Lord, 1 Saw the Light were
played on the tape recorder to open
the meeting. The scripture, John 3:
1-19 was read by all.
The Love of Our Forefathers, the
story of Graham and Marg Work’s
trip to the Orkney Islands in the
north sea of Scotland in search of
information about the Work family
was read by Mrs. Work. She also
showed many pictures and told the
story of the Work farm.
The hymn Wonderful Words of
Love was played. Mrs. Work read a
poem, Planting a Garden. This was
followed by prayer.
Due to the absence of president,
Leona Armstrong, Alice Marks
presided over the business. The
minutes of the May meeting were
read and approved and a thank you
card from Mrs. Armstrong was read.
Jeanne Kirkby read the treasurer’s
report.
Mrs. Marks announced that the
WMS fall rally is to be held in
Molesworth on Monday, Sept. 19.
After a discussion it was decided
to have the September meeting on
Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. with coffee and
dessert to be served before the
meeting. It was decided to invite
Lucknow WMS to this meeting.
Dona Knight volunteered to do
the fall fair display.
The roll call was answered with
everyone telling something of
interest about their ancestors. Mary
Huether and Jana Dodds will be in
charge of the September meeting.
