With students from Hullett Central
Public School on the equipment, the
new playground equipment at the
Londesborough Park was officially
opened on Monday afternoon.
On hand for the occasion were
Huron-Bruce MP Paul Steckle,
Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell
and Central Huron councillor Marg
Anderson.
Master of ceremonies for the event
was Lions Club member Keith
Allen.
He indicated the new equipment
replaces the old equipment which
was in place for 28 years. The new
equipment has several safety
features including a tarpaulin, which
not only serves as protection from
the weather, but also from foulballs.
The project was spearheaded by
Doug and Karen Dolmage, with the
Trillium grant application being
done through the Londesborough
Lions Club.
Also helping out with some
fundraising were the Londesborough
Angels ball team, the Hullett
Recreation Association and other
service organizations.
The project received $20,000 from
the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Mitchell said it is through the
efforts of the Lions Club and other
organizations that the children are
able to use facilities such as these.
She added they are helping in
Remember that day when you
sent your child off on his/her first
day of kindergarten, the tug at the
heart strings, the lump in your
throat and the tear in the corner of
your eye? You realized that
suddenly that child’s world had
widened and he/she had taken,
figuratively speaking, a first step
away from you. And, yet, there was
a sense of pride in the child’s
growth.
Those same emotions were being
experienced all over again by the
parents attending the Grade 8
graduation at Hullett Central Public
School last Friday evening. They
realized once again that their child’s
world will now be ever wider
making the community strong and
she encouraged the children in
attendance to enjoy the park.
Steckle noted that it took a lot of
hard work by a lot of volunteers to
complete this project.
Huron County Family Health Team
Orphan Patient Registration
Are you a patient without a family physician
in Huron County?
If you or a family member does not have a family physician, the
Huron County Family Health Team is beginning to register
orphan patients. At this point in development the information
requested includes: name, address, phone number, email
address (if applicable), and date of birth.
What is a Family Health Team?
A Family Health Team is an approach to primary health care that
brings together different health care providers to co-ordinate the
highest possible quality of care for you — the patient. It will be
designed to complement professionals such as doctors,
pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and more. The Huron
County Family Health Team has a mandate to make primary
health care available to orphan patients.
Why register early?
This registration does not guarantee immediate service, but will
create an orphan patient database for the implementation of
the Huron County Family Health Team. Early registration is an
excellent idea to help in the development and organization of a
comprehensive health care program. Geography and local
health concerns will help us tailor our services for you. Please
register yourself and family now!

one more step away from them was
being taken. As their child came
through the trellis, there was that
same tug at the heart strings, lump
in the throat and tear in the eye.
Pride for the achievements of the
graduate was felt again.
Emotions were front and centre
for the graduates as well. For, as the
class valedictorian, Janessa Dalton,
noted in her address they recognize
the sadness they have closed one
door and yet anticipate with
excitement the opening of another
door/adventure.
That excitement was almost
palpable that evening. Such a
transformation
between
Dennis Drennan or
Lois Tebbutt offered a
or two about dach that,
serious or humourous,
those who arrived for the
ceremonies. Were those young
ladies in their long dresses and
fancy hairdos the same ones who
attended classes every other day?
And who were those young gents in
their ties and suitcoats?
The auditorium was decorated
with black, gold and burgundy
balloons and streamers. Each
graduate had put together a pictorial
poster of him/herself as a wall
display. Between the meal and the
awards ceremonies the fourteen
graduates loosed skyward a number
of the coloured balloons.
Cameras recorded many smiles
and memories and groups of
friends.
As each graduate went forward to
receive their diploma, Grade 8

Editor and well-known actor,
world traveller and writer, Rob
Bundy, gave a humourous,
energetic and thought-provoking
address to the graduates. He stated
that graduation is a moving
forward, a transition. Although the
students are leaving Hullett, the
years spent here will always be a
major part of their lives.
The foundations built here with
the help of parents and teachers are
important things for each student’s
shoebox of life.
He encouraged each of them to
continue to learn and savour the
experiences of life and fill up their
shoebox with the things that interest
• and challenge them.
The friends made at Hullett will
always be there for love and support
throughout life. He noted that this
graduation night is the last day of
the first part of their life and they
should use Hullett memories, to
And, he was sure the children had
something to do with making the
project a success.
After all, jt is the children of the
community that the project is all
about.
