Rex has started his recovery following his ATV accident. He has been given a good prognosis despite having endured a nine-hour surgery. Difficult days lie ahead for the family and the Auburn-area friends and neighbours are all pulling for a full recovery. Some Auburn residents attended the wedding of Mark Bricker and his bride. Mark is the son of Dennis and Brenda Bricker, formerly of Auburn. Congratulations Relay of Life. Some Auburn people participated on teams walking the whole night. When walking around the track, participants saw names on the bags that were lit after dark honouring cancer survivors or in memory of cancer patients from Auburn. Sandy and Shirley Andrews and Bud and Laura Mae Chamney were on a bus trip Sunday to the Ford Museum in Michigan. The Auburn Lions club held its final meeting before the summer break on Wednesday. The meeting was held at the new Lions picnic shelter pavilion in the Riverside Park. The picnic tables are now up and everything is looking great. The gentlemen invited their spouses and a great time was had. Enjoy your summer break everyone, you have certainly earned it. Annette Stephenson of Brussels visited with me this week. She is starting her own interior design consultation business. She offers in­ house counsel on paint, fabric, colours - the works. Annette has beeri an art student of mine for several years and I know how very talented she is. with her on your side, any home will be increased in value in a few days. After a couple of hours of chat, we had solved many of the world problems and all of my decorating woes. Annette was celebrating her birthday while here for the day. We went for lunch in the Village Cafe in Dungnanon where we were joined by Carmen Klaus of Goderich. If you need a bit of help by all means give Annette a call. She will make the whole process a delight and the results will be more than you had ever imagined possible. Guest Pavilion The Auburn Lions Club recently completed the construction of a pavilion at the Riverside Park in Auburn. The club held its year-end dinner meeting at the pavilion on June 15. (Jim Brown photo) Donation The Auburn Lions Club made a $500 donation to the Blyth Arena during their year-end meeting on June 15. (Jim Brown photo) WI meets The Auburn Women's Institute met on June 16 in the Auburn Community Hall. Marg Fraser opened the meeting with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. O Canada was sung. She read a poem. The Great Truth Little Children Have Learned. Tena Empey read the minutes. The treasurer’s report was given by Teresa Roetcisoender. The card report was given by Laura Mae Chamney. A get-well card was signed for Bernice Anderson. The roll call was an item from a foreign country the members had visited. Many treasured items were shown. Some of the countries mentioned were Germany, Holland, Australia, 'JSA, Africa and China. June Robinson, convenor of education and cultural affairs, introduced her guest speaker Ariel Wood from Egmondville. She had been to South Africa. There had bee i 36 in the group from all over Canada. They visited many cities. There are poor people and rich people there. The scenery was. beautiful. They visited many prisons. They also saw ostrich and crocodile farms, and later ate the meat of these animals. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 2005. PAGE 13 FROM AUBURN 4-H members get creative The Creative Creators of Wawanosh 4-H. met on Tuesday June 14 at the home of Mary Ellen Foran. Since the previous meetings were Field trips, the club had some information to catch up on. They answered the roll calls for meetings four, five and six. The members showed samples of symmetrical, asymmetrical, and unbalanced pictures they found in magazines. Mary Ellen discussed the ten guidelines for original composition. The club showed their examples of wrapping paper. Then the members did an activity where they used different coloured geometric shapes to show a bird attacking a victim, an emotion, and someone scoring a goal. Mary Ellen taught the club about stripes. Some of the members were wearing striped clothing. The members did an activity where they made different patterns and colours with stripes. minister at Knox United Rev. Pat Cook is on a study break from June 19-24. Guest minister Rev. Cecil Wittich spoke on the topic, Amazing Grace. The church’s summer services will be held July 3, 10, 17 and Aug. 14, 21 and 28. There will be no services on July 24, 31 or Aug. 7. There were between 40 and 50 at church this past Sunday. The Sunday school program has been halted for the summer weeks but will resume in September.
