Obituaries
JOHN FREDERICK BLAKE
John Frederick Blake of Blyth
passed away at Huronlea Home,
Brussels on Friday, June 10, 2005.
He was in his 92nd year.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Reta (Bowes) Blake, who
predeceased him in 2001. He was
the loving father and father-in-law of
Ivan and Gertie Blake of Hanover,
Sheila and Mike Moore of
Wingham, Barbara and Bruce
Crapper of Milverton and Lloyd
McDowell of Stratford. He was
loved and will be sadly missed by
eight grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
Mr. Blake was predeceased by one
daughter June McDowell, one son
James Foster, one son-in-law Gene
Kruse, three sisters Nellie Davidson,
Dorothy Rooke and Ada Treasure
and three brothers Charles, William
and Joseph Blake.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre of the Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd., 407 Queen
Street, Blyth on Monday from 2 - 4
and 7 - 9 p.m.
A memorial service was held by
the Royal Canadian Legion, Blyth
Branch No. 420 at the funeral home
on Monday evening at 8:45 p.m.
The funeral service was held at
Trinity Anglican Church, Blyth on
Tuesday, June I4, at 2 p.m.
■interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Deric Kruse,
Michael Lennnox-Moore, Alex
McNabb, Greg Lamure, Kyle
Crapper and John Crapper.
Flowerbearers were Rhea Lamure,
Kory and Lori Ruff.
Donations to the Alzheimer
Society of Huron, Ontario Heart and
Stroke Foundation or the Canadian
Cancer Society would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.
DALE GEORGE
BRECKENRIDGE
Mr. Dale Breckenridge of RR2,
Bluevale, passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Wednesday,
June 8, 2005. He was 58.
He was the husband of the former
Frances Paulin and father of Mark
and Angel Breckenridge of RRl,
Bluevale and Jason Breckenridge of
Bluevale. He was the grandfather of
Austin and Jaxon. Mr. Breckenridge
was the brother of Wilda Trethewey
of Guelph, Roma and Gordon
Nicholson of Morris Twp., Brenda
Perrie of Grey Twp. and Rae and
Rita of Bluevale.
He was predeceased by his parents
Lee and Anna (Wheeler)
Breckenridge and brothers Barry
and Allan.
Visitation was at the McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Thursday, June 9 from 7 - 9 p.m.
Memorial services were held at the
funeral home on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Pastor Joan Tuchlinsky officiated.
Memorial donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.
ROSS DEITNER
William Ross Deitner of RRl,
Ethel, passed away at Fordwich
Village Nursing Home, on Tuesday.
June 7, 2005. Born in Grey Twp. on
Oct. 16, 1933, Ross was in his 72nd
year.
He was the dear son of the late
William and Delma Deitner. He was
the dear brother of Aileen Leddy and
husband Denny of Kitchener, Janet
Brophy of Wingham, Rita Keys and
husband Jack of Shelburne, Joanne
Pickett and husband Ozzie of
Kitchener and Karen Tabor of
Winnipeg. He was also loved by his
many nieces and nephews.
Friends were received by the
family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Thursday at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, Brussels with parrish
prayers at 4 p.m. The funeral mass
was celebrated from St. Ambrose
Roman Catholic Church, Brussels
on Friday, June 10 at 11 a.m. by
Father John B. Johnson. The music
for the mass was led by Ross’s niece
Betty-Anne Pickett.
Pallbearers were John Pickett,
Peter Pickett, Mike Leddy, Joe
Brophy, Bill Keys and Don
Haasnoot.
Cremation followed with
interment in St. Ambrose Cemetery
at a later date.

GORDON SHIELL
Gordon Alfred Shiell of Brussels,
passed away peacefully surrounded
by his family at Seaforth
Community Hospital on Wednesday,
June 8, 2005. Born in Atwood on
Feb. 6. 1932, Gordon was in his 74th
year.
He was the beloved husband of
Ruth (Schlueter) Shiell. He was the
dear father of Joanne Pitz and
husband Wayne of Waterloo,
Barbara Querengesser and husband
Jim of Brussels, Ken Shiell and wife
Brenda of Kitchener and Ronald
Shiell and wife Denise of
Woodstock. He was the dear brother
of Ross Shiell of London. Marion
Raymond of Burlington, Leslie
Shiell of Mount forest and Donald
Shiell of Milverton. He was also
loved by his grandchildren Wayne
Jr.. Tiffany, Eric, Neil, Patricia,
Christopher, Ian, Daniel and Katie
and a great-granddaughter Emily.
Friends were received by the
family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Friday at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, Brussels, where the
funeral service was conducted on
Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev.
Joan Golden officiating. A
remembrance of Gordon was given
by his brother Ross and by his
granddaughter Tiffany. As a musical
tribute, Gordon’s daughter-in-law
Denise sang Precious Memories and
Precious Lord, Take My Hand
accompanied by Mrs. Grace Jutzi on
the piano.
Carrying floral tributes were
Tiffany Pitz, Katie Shiell and
Patricia Querengesser.
Pallbearers were Wayne Pitz Jr.,
Chris Shiell, Eric Querengesser, Ian
Shiell, Neil Querengesser and
Daniell Shiell.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Seaforth Community Hospital or to
Town and Country Support Services.
