At the Branch
40 dine on Friday
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The Friday night supper of turkey
at the Brussels Legion was enjoyed
by over 40 people. This week is
sweet-and-sour meatballs.
The fish fry crew was busy doing
two events on Saturday. Crew I,
John Harrison, Murray Lowe, Andy
Overholt and Judy Buchanan headed
to Blyth to serve just over 100
diners. Crew ll. Rick McDonald.
Norm Dobson. Scott McDonald and
Jason Konarski, went to Mitchell to
serve 140 diners. We will be serving
our own fish lovers this Saturday at
the Branch.
Events at the Branch are slowing
down but the fish fry crews-will be
keeping busy.
Sunday the Branch will be taking
part in the Doors Open program that
focuses on the village of Brussels
this weekend and again in August.
Look for signs and info around the
village.
The general meeting will be June
28 at 8 p.m. We encourage members
to come out and support the Branch.
The Seniors luncheon is also that
day and we hope to have some extra
volunteers. Call Jo-Ann if you can
help during the day.FROM BRUSSELS

L. Hesse hosts Majestic
Lots of pressure on the young
folks these next few weeks as
another school year comes to an end.
Tidying up last-minute details,
finishing one last project, and
proving beyond doubt that' the work
of the past year is embedded may be
on the schedule of many of our
young students. Each age group has
its challenges and only they can
know the feelings of uncertainty and
gloom as the work piles up.
So be supportive as this last bit of
work becomes complete.
With the end of the school year
many of the extra lessons and
activities also take a holiday. With
these endings, recitals, reviews and
concerts are part of the routine.
These times are used for both
leaders and students, a time to show
what’s been achieved and a time to
bring forth the talent of the next
generation.
And Joshua Gropp is putting his
talent to good use this summer. The
third-year Humber jazz guitar
student will be out to sea for three
months, playing with the showband
on Carnival Cruise Lines’ ship the
Imagination.
So as the hot weather pulls us
down, let the energy and enthusiasm
to the inals in August. Practise, skill
and equpment were put to the test in
the hot weather as the decisions
were made for moving to the next
level. St. John Ambulance
volunteers, and added expertise,
kept the injured riders in good
shape.
Don’t forget to pop into the United
Church on Sunday afternoon to say
farewell to Joan and Richard Golden
from l - 3 p.m. Joan is on holidays
after Sunday and will be heading for
Melbourne in search of a little
change of pace. So come <ind say
goodbye.
Dig out your bathing suit. The
pool is just about ready for you.
Enjoy the beauty in our midst.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
Thieves

of clean sweep herbicide at a vehicle
near the intersection of Front Road
and Kinburn Line in Huron East and
someone took them. They were
valued at $1,400.
