Obituaries
MILDRED VIOLA AMENT
Mrs. Mildred Ament of Blyth
passed away surrounded by her
family on Friday. June 3. 2005 at the
Clinton Public Hospital. She was in
her 76th year.
She was the beloved wife of
Stewart Ament and loving mother of
Garry Ament of Stratford and
Shirley East of Stoney Creek. She
was the dear grandmother of
Stewart, Bill and Kevin East. Mrs.
Ament will be dearly missed by
brothers Robert Carter and friend
Yvonne of Clinton. Gordon and Lois
Carter of Tavistock and sister-in-law
Elsie of Brussels. She will also be
missed by several nieces and
nephews.
A brother. James Carter,
predeceased her.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre, 407 Queen St.,
Blyth on Sunday. June 5 from 2 - 4
and 7 - 9 p.m., where the funeral
service was held on Monday. June 6
at 2 p.m.
Interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Flowerbearers were Olwen
Richmond, Marie Bromley, Amy
Bodie and Janice Henry.
Pallbearers were Francis
Anderson, Ross Bodie. Jim Brown,
Keith Richmond, Bev Bromley and
Willis Bromley.
As expressions of sympathy,
donations to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation or the Arthritis Society
would be appreciated.
Order of the Eastern Star, Clinton
Chapter, #266 service was held at
6:45 p.m. and Royal Canadian
Legion. Branch #420. Blyth service
was held at S:45 p.m Sunday
evening.
Funeral arrangements were
entrusted to the Falconer Funeral
Homes Ltd.. Clinton.
MARGARET BERNARD
Margaret Isobel (Evans) Bernard
of Brussels passed away at Wingham
& District Hospital, on Monday.
May 30, 2005. She was in her 76th
year.
Born in Grey Twp. on June 23,
1929, Margaret was the youngest
child of Charles and Annabell
Evans. She attended school in Union
before moving on to Continuation
School in Brussels.
On June 7, 1947. Margaret
married her late husband Tom
Bernard and the couple farmed and
raised a family on the sixth of
Morris. Margaret eventually moved
to the Highland Apartments in
Brussels, where she continued to
remain active within the community
and her church.
Margaret was the beloved wife of
the late Tom Bernard. She will be
sadly missed by her children Irma
Pryce and her husband Gordon and
Shirley Coleman and her husband
Jim. all of McKillop Twp. and
Carman Bernard and his wife Mary
of Morris Twp. She was the dear
sister of Betty McKenzie of Hensall.
Mrs. Bernard was also loved by her
seven grandchildren and her seven
great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her
daughter Thelma Jean and brothers
Hank and Lyle Evans.
Friends were received by the
family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m
Wednesday at the Schimanski
Family Funeral Home. Brussels. The
funeral service was conducted from
St. John’s Anglican Church,
Brussels, on Thursday, June 2 at 2
p.m. with Rev. Tom Wilson
officiating.
A eulogy remembering Margaret ’»
was given by Dianne Diehl.
Carrying floral tributes were Kathy
Butson, Karen Ulch and Sarah
Butson. Pallbearers were Wallace
East. Ron Pryce. Kevin Coleman.
Steve Bernard, Mike Bernard and
Chris Bernard.
Interment was in St. John’s
Anglican Church. Cemetery. Morris
Twp.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations were made to

ISABELL GERMAN
Mrs. Isabell German of Blyth
passed away at Clinton Public
Hospital on Sunday. June 5, 2005.
She was in her 75th year.
Mrs. German was the loving
companion of Dave Crich. She was
the dearly loved mother of Fred and
Joanne German of Calgary, Alta.,
Debbie and Wayne McDougall of
Blyth. Gary and Lorraine German of
Medicine Hat. Alta., Norm and Bev
German of Angus, Dee German of
Parry Sound and Kim and Marc Van
Maele of RR2, Courtland. She was
the cherished grandmother of 11
grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. She was the dear
sister and sister-in-law of Ruth
Dougherty of Blyth. Vi Fowler of
Wardsville and Gladys Thuell of
London. Mrs. German was also
loved by several nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her
brothers‘Ross. Samuel and James
Thuell.
At IsabelI’s request there was no
visitation. A private family service
Doors Open deemed
to be a success

Huron County’s courthouse was
among the Goderich building taking
part in the Doors Open celebration
attended by more than 3,000 people,
May 28, 29.
Bluewater councillor Bill Dowson
congratulated Larry Adams, chief
administrative officer, for tirelessly
explaining the workings of county
council to people visiting the council
chambers.
Adams thanked other staff for
helping conduct tour as well as some
council members.
Morris-Turnberry councillor
Dorothy Kelly, who took part in the
tours, thought there should have
been more rural residents from
around the county taking advantage
of the opportunity to visit their seat
of government and suggested that
was held at the Blyth Visitation
Centre, 407 Queen St.. Blyth on
Tuesday, June 7.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.

councillor who was involved in
organizing the event, said there were
many rural people attending and the
event was well advertised on radio.
