Husband, wife minister at Knox Guests at Knox United Church were Paul and Marilyn Elgie who minister as a team. Paul shared his musical talents by playing selections on the piano throughout the service. The children’s message was about ‘Son shine’ and the adult message was titled, Grace Defeats Disgrace. Communion will be celebrated next Sunday. Auburn UCW held its May meeting in the church basement May 24 at 7:30 p.m. The theme was Outreach - Globally a Within The Community. Guest speaker was Ann Braebender from Huronview Huronlea who focused on ways people could volunteer and make a difference tn the lives of the homes’ residents. The Community Outreach Project was displayed and the whole east wall was filled with donations from Knox members and friends in the community. Some of the baby clothes and mitts were handmade as were the quilts. The donations were received by volunteer June Johns who was amazed at the quantity and quality of donations brought in through the Knox Church. An awesome thing these blessings of small community. FROM AUBURN Hist, Society visits area The Huron County Historical Society enjoyed its evening in Westfield Thursday. There was a wander through the cemetery for half an hour and then it was on to the church. The tiny community can be extremely proud of the restorations made to this century-old buil­ Talent showcase Students at East Wawanosh Public School recently held a talent showcase, with the winners advancing to the finals held May 25. Baton twirler Cheyenne Schiestel was one of the primary competitors. Winning the primary division was soloist Courtney Shearer Pianist Caroline McDowell took top honours in the junior/intermediate division and the overall winners were Tammy Hewitt and Adel Dodds, who performed a duet. The Snell family in particular has much to be proud of. Elaine Snell, council member of the historical society headed’ up the committee pulling together a.ll the details of the evening and did an amazing job. The visitors to the church were greeted with pots of flowers and charming smiles. __ Everyone was treated to an accounting of the restoration efforts as well as a couple of good old- fashioned hymns. The ladies of the church outdid themselves with the lunch. The stain-glass windows are a “must see”. The community of Auburn is very pleased to hear Ernie Dumin is out of hospital. Mr. Durnin is residing in Restview m Clinton. Many of Ernie’s friends and neighbours will be in to visit and be very happy indeed for the chance. Glad to hear of your remarkable recuperation. The Auburn Seniors dined out at Stickers followed by a tour of the new Sunset Springs greenhouse located not far from Family Paradise Campground in the Seaforth area. The new enterprise, just opened this past Saturday is the result of a lot of hard work by the Reinink family. Carol Reinink is the daughter of Bill and Maxine Seers of Auburn. Refreshments were served up by Tena Empey and Maxine Seers before the seniors were on their way again. Hayley Andrews visited her grandparents. Bill and Bernadette Andrews in Auburn this weekend. A memorial service was held for Emerson Rodger on Saturday at the North Street United Church. Mr. Rodger was in recent years living in Goderich. However he had for many years lived near Westfield just north at Auburn The writer’s group Under the Covers meetings in Blyth every second Tuesday evening are hosting a lull-day workshop entitled How to get Published. The project is being planned under Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice, and the receipt of necessary approvals, the County of Huron intends to proceed with the design and construction of these projects. The project plans and other information are available at the Goderich Public Library, 52 Montreal Street, Goderich, ON N7A 2G4. Interested persons should provide written comment to the County on the proposal within 30 calendar days from the date of this Notice. Comment should be directed care of Mr. Scott Davis, Totten Sims Hubicki Associates, 72 Victoria St. S. #202, Kitchener, Ontario, N2G 4Y9. If concerns arise regarding this project, which cannot be resolved in discussion with the County, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment make an order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act, which addresses individual environmental assessments. Requests must be received by the Minister at the address below within 30 calendar days of this Notice. A copy of the request must also be sent to the County Engineer care of the above noted address. If there is no request received by July 1,2005, the bridge repairs will proceed to design and construction as presented in the planning documentation.
