The Municipality of Central Huron is pleased to announce the 4* annual Central Huron Facade
Grant Program. In 2005, the Program is expanded to include facade improvements for the core
businesses throughout Central Huron. The Municipality has set aside funds to assist property
owners in the expansion or improvement of the building facade.

North Huron council briefs
In his report. North Huron reeve
Doug Layton told couneil at the May
16 meeting that he had met with
representatives for Campvention
2006 the previous weekend and
received many favourable comments.

Bills and accounts in the amount of
$272,035.X4 were approved for
payment.
***
Garden refuse and grass clippings
will now be picked up by the public
works department at designated
times, and will otherwise not be
permitted on the streets. If the
township works staff need to remove
garden refuse and grass clippings at
any time other than those designated,
the property owner will be billed
$50.
***
Council authorized the removal of
the beaver dam on the Cook
municipal drain, with the cost
charged against the drain.
***
Council authorized the director of
public works, Ralph Campbell, to
obtain an engineer’s report for water
projects on Gypsy Lane, Morris
Street to the Emergency Service
Training Centre, and Boland Street.
An application will be forwarded to
the Ministry of the Environment
requesting approval of these projects.

A bylaw to stop up and close a
portion of James Street, Plan 291 in
Auburn was given final reading.
A second bylaw to confirm the
authorization of the sale of part of the
road allowance for James Street was
also given final reading.***
Council endorsed a resolution from
the Region of Durham asking to
province to incorporate the slow
moving farm vehicle signage as a
provincial standard.***
Another resolution received
council support. This was from the
County of Essex requesting the
province to fund Ontario colleges on
a more equitable level in comparison
to funding provided to universities
and secondary schools.***
A resolution from the Town of
Parry Sound asking the Minister of
Finance to amend the OMPF formula
so that policing costs attributable to
providing court security are shared
on an equitable basis was suppor
ted.***
Council endorsed a resolution from
the Twp. of King asking the premier
to enact legislation to protect career
firefighters working as volunteer
firefighters.
Budget
The total 2005 Facade Grant Program budget has been set at $10,000.00 (a maximum of $1,000
of matching funds per application). The funds will be distributed on a “first come first saved”
basis. Funding may be in the form of a cash or in-kind contribution.
Td Qualify
The structure for the proposed enhancement must be considered a core business in Clinton,
Holmesville, Auburn or Londes boro. The proposed facade improvement must meet the specific
property criteria outlined in the “Facade Improvement Concept” and enhance the “cosmetic”
appeal of the structure from a streetscape viewpoint. The applicant must be prepared to complete
the project within the calendar year. It is understood that the applicant will be reimbursed the
grant amount following die completion of the works and submission of all project receipts.
Successful applicants will be required to submit a post project report identifying the use of the
funds.

If the applicant has not received their “Facade Improvement Concept” they should contact the
Municipality to obtain their design prior to submitting their application.
Applications for funding should include:
& Description of the project
❖ Timeline for completion of die work
& Budget for proposed project
❖ Visual representation of the proposed project
❖ Supporting information, as appropriate
❖ Amount of funding requested, specifying whether a cash or in-kind donation is
required.

Applications must be received by 12:00 noon July 154,2005.
