They played their first game on .Monday, May 16 in Seaforth. They played a good game and came out on top. The team had a great first inning bringing in four runs, then held Seaforth to zero. The second inning was a success. Ryan Plunkett and Joshua Kuperus each homered. Seaforth came back with two runs. •The third and final innings only had one batter coming home, Kaitlin Bos. Seaforth came back strong in the third inning with five runs. Blyth’s hard team work won them the game at 12-7. Their next game is Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. in Londesborough. Game two for the Blyth Pre-Mite A team was an exciting action-packed game, against Londesborough. Blyth won 19-7. Homeruns came from Joshua Kuperus with two, Ryan Plunkett, Cory Ducharme and Amy Badley. Kaitlin Bos was on fire in this game with a home run, a triple and a double. Drew Bromley also got a triple. Kathryn Chalmers got a triple bringing home Amy Boyce and Brandon Marshall. The third game of the season was a battle for the Pre-Mite As. They travelled to Winthrop where they plaved a good game but lost 17-11. Bromley and Badley had triples and Samantha Kerr had her little legs moving with a double. Ducharme made a hard throw to first with Badley making a great catch to get the batter'out. Lightning posts second win Blyth Lightning’s U-ll soccer team hosted their second game of the season against Wingham Remax, on May 17. Jeanette Schramm, who plays defence for Blyth, was the evening’s game captain. During the first half of the game a Wingham player had a hand ball in the crease, so Murray Dale took the penalty shot. Dale was successful and scored the first goal for Blyth. Goalkeeper Leendart Vandorp made some great saves and Blyth kept their 1-0 lead until halftime. Passing it on These teammates at East Wawanosh school demonstrated solid technique passing the baton in the relay race. Track and field day was May 19. Meagan Pletch accepts the baton from Alicia Appleby. (Vicky Bremner photo) Bly th U-13 soccer teams luck off season Blyth U-13 or Mosquito soccer is underway for the 2005 season. Sparling Field hosted a game at which both Blyth co-ed U-13 teams played against each other on Thursday, May 12. Blyth II has called their team the Blyth Flames. The Flames game captain was defense Jason Young with forward Laura Peach as co-captain. Blyth I came out strong and scored the first goal of the game. Flames goalkeeper, Jacob Vandorp stepped over the 18 yard line with the ball and a handball was called. This gave Blyth I a successful scoring opportunity and a 2-0 lead by the end of first halt. The Flames were not playing their positions to the best of their ability and three more goals were scored by Blyth I during the second half. The Flames were only able to get one goal during the second half. Forward, Brent Drost had a breakaway and the goalie stopped his first attempt to score. The keeper fumbled the ball and Drost tapped the ball into the net. It was a very disappointing game for the Flames, with a loss of 5-1 against Blyth I. On May 19. the Blyth Flames travelled to Bayfield to play their second game of the season Defense, Kelly MacDonald was game captain and forward; Emily Nicholson was co-captain. Blyth’s halfTack Jacob Nonkes passed the ball to forward Brent Drost for the first goal of the game. Bayfield scored two nice goals before the whistle blew to signal half time. During the second half of the game, forward Tanner Memer passed the ball to Drost for a goal to tie up the score 2-2. Blyth was on a roll and Drost scored another goal after a nice pass from forward Laura Peach. There were only minutes left in the game and Blyth worked hard to keep Bayfield away from their net. Unfortunately, Bayfield scored to tie up the game 3-3.
