enthusiastically received last week
as they performed their original
work of Cinderedna. For those of
you who missed the two offerings of
(his fine play in the gym you’ll
always wondering what
happened to Cinderella and the other
prince. As well you missed some
pretty fine singing and acting. Well
done BPS.
In case you need a chuckle this
week seek out Vern Bridge's work
van and see if the advertising and the
word play don’t make you smile.
Then maybe even wish you should
get cracking and call a plumber.
Enjoy the spring!
Bye now, Betty G.W.
Well J wonder if Queen Victoria
would have enjoyed her weekend if
she was still out and about. A few
events are still held in her memory
like tea parties and historic walks
but for many this first fine-weather
weekend is unofficially known as
May 24. So whether you were
attending a high tea. visiting family
and friends, puttering in the
outdoors or doing extra special stuff
1 hope you enjoyed the warmth and
the extra day to do it.
The summer seems to bring out
our gathering gene; maybe it’s the
promise of no snow; but the months
of May and June have so much to
offer in terms of people togetherness
concerts, dinners, weddings,
parties and bridal showers, tours,
sporting events and of course garage
sales.
By the way get your treasures all
cleaned up and ready for market as
next Saturday is the annual garage
sale for the village. So join the fun
as a buyer or a seller.

Comrades attend convention
Provincial
By Jo-Ann McDonald
Brussels Legion Comrades Rick
McDonald, Julie Harrison, Glenn
Bridge and Jo-Ann McDonald
attended the Royal Canadian
Legion Ontario
Command 44th biennial convention
at the Galt Arena Gardens on May
17
The day concerned the elections
of some of the top officers of
Provincial Command and to deal
with resolutions concerning
Legions. Committee reports as well
as the car draws were heard.
Congratulations to Brussels
Comrade Eric Ross who was elected
as provincial vice chairman.
An important resolution that was
defeated was tne idea of pushing for
Nov. 11 to be a national holiday.
Comrades spoke mostly against the
resolution, stating that school
children would be less likely to
attend and be involved and it is
important that we continue to
promote and educate our young
people to the importance of
Remembrance.
Thanks to all who purchased car
draw tickets. There were no winners
from our area but London and
Kitchener both had a winner.
The Cadet Corps 2987 Brussels
hosted their inspection evening on
Tuesday. Representing Brussels
Legion was Comrade President
Norm Dobson. A nice turnout of
parents and friends were in
attendance to witness the drills and
presentations.
Comrades were saddened to hear
the news of the passing of Comrade
Frank Cardiff, a resident of
Huronlea for the past year. A Legion
service with 24 comrades in
attendance was held Thursday
evening. Brussels Legion Comrades
Ross Bennett, Charlie Proctor,
Forrest Whittard, Cecil Moore,
George Adams and Glenn Bridge
acted as pallbearers for the Friday
funeral. Our condolences to family
and friends on Frank’s passing.
There was no Friday night supper
this past weekend and this week is
roast pork.
Saturday’s euchre had 18 tables of
players. The first-place winners
were Elsie Mogk and Doreen
Skinner with 85 points. The second
and third-place winners were tied
with 73 points so the prize money
was split between Charlie and Millie
Johnston and Lloyd and Lillian
Appleby. The low prize went to
Bush Whittard and Olave Papple.
Lucky lone-hand prizes went to Ken
Engel and Janet Davies.
A crowd of over 80 were present
Sunday night to enjoy the music of
Country Ways.
This Friday evening is the
installation of Brussels/Seaforth
slate of officers. The evening begins
at 8 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
The fish fry is on Saturday.

their second birthday. There's no better time
to begin prevention and learn proper
techniques than at the beginning.
