Len and Betty Archambault have
been on a cribbage cruise to District
29 of the Seniors’ Games in Grand
Bend. They came second out of 42
teams and are on their way to
Bean family greets at
Knox United Church service
Windsor in August for the regional
cribbage tournament. Good luck
folks.
The Huron County Historical
Society will be holding its next
meeting in Westfield. Everyone is
invited to attend and learn the
history of Westfield, in particular the
lovely church. There are plans to
wander the cemetery just one road
west and a bit south of Westfield
starting at 7:30 p.m. and the meeting
will start at 8 p.m. at the church.
Elaine Snell, Society councillor,
has made all the arrangements for
the meeting including an interesting
speaker and a lunch to follow.
Our sympathies go out to Phyllis
Rodger and her family on the
passing of her husband Emerson.
The couple had moved to Goderich
after farming in the Auburn area.
Bernice Anderson has recently had
a lovely phone visit with a one-time
resident of Auburn and friend, the
former Margaret Ferguson now of
Edmonton. Margaret lived in the
W.L. Craig family home.
Auburn and Bly th residents
attended the wedding of Jenny Cook
on May 14. Jenny is the daughter of
Robert and Betty Cook of Glencoe.
Mother of the bride, Betty, is the
former Betty Moss of Auburn.
Good news for Jack Armstrong
and his family. Jack is in Clinton
hospital and is feeling much better.
Keep on the well track, Jack.
I have spoken with Joyce Bean
who tells me her kids are getting into
the swing of summer with soccer.
Son Brett, in the under-18 group, has
played one game against Lucknow.
Tony, under 15, has had one game
against Seaforth and Danielle in the
under-13 group has played one game
against the other Blyth team.
Oldest son Michael who plays
hockey with the Goderich C Sailors
played an exhibition game on the
weekend against the Steelback and
won.
Happy birthday greetings go to
Rick Archambault who will be
celebrating his 50th birthday on May
20.FROM AUBURN
The greeters at Knox United last
week were Dana, Joyce and Danielle
Bean. Rev. Pat Cook’s message was,
Open To The Spirit. Next Sunday,
Rev. Pat will be participating in a
pulpit exchange with North Street
United Church.
The UCW will meet at the church
on May 24 at 7:30 p.m. On display
will be their many efforts for their
Community Care Outreach Project.
There will be a collection of new
clothes, quilts, baby clothes and
more that will be turned over to the
Children’s Aid Societies.
Everyone is welcomed to attend
and see firsthand the result of this
very worthwhile undertaking. The
guest ‘ peaker for the evening will be
Ann Brabender from program and
social services of Huronview.
The Bible Study group met at the
home of Marie Bromley on Tuesday
afternoon.
