ORIENTAL FRIED RICE 2 eggs beaten 3 tbsp, oil 1/2 cup diced ham 1/4 cup mushrooms diced 3 tbsp, soy sauce 3 tbsp, sliced green onion 4 cups cold cooked rice Cook eggs in 1 tbsp, oil without stirring. Invert over a plate to remove from pan; cut into narrow strips. SESAME SEED COOKIES 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter 1 egg 1/2 cup sesame seeds 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Cream sugar and butter, add egg and sesame seeds and combine well. Mix together flour, baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Shape dough into an 8x2” log and wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly at least two hours; cut into 1/4" slices and put on ungreased sheets. Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes. Yield about 32 cookies. EGG DROP SOUP In a saucepan put three cups chicken stock; slowly blend in one tbsp, cornstarch. Cook three to four minutes. Beat an egg and stir into broth gently. Pour into three to four soup bowls. They were joined by their daughter. Laurel Mitchell, for a tour of the northern part of the country. They drove on Ninety Mile Beach and visited the lighthouse on Cape Reinga, the most northern part of the island. This is where the waters of the Tasman Sea join the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The highlight of, and the reason for, the visit was attending Lisa’s graduation from Massey University with a PhD in food technology on April 13. Lisa has been a senior lecturer at Massey University for a number of years. However, much to the family's delight, she and Shane will be moving to Nova Scotia in July.
