THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2005. PAGE 11. Potluck begins WI meeting The April meeting of the Belgrave Women’s Institute began with a potluck supper for 32 members and guests. Following the meal the president introduced five students from East Wawanosh Public School, Drew McKee, Caroline McDowell. Adele Dodds, Greg Dodds, and Kaytee Richmond who were the winners in storytelling and public speaking at their school. Following their speeches Kay Roberts congratulated each of them with a gift of money. The business meeting opened with the Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect and the minutes, given by Dorothy Coultes. The roll call was answered by 17 members paying their yearly dues and stating their volunteer hours. A discussion about updating the hall was held with the majority in favour of catering meals in the arena and using the hall for all other Wl activities. Mary Hunter and Doreen Marks are taking a course to become certified Safe Food handlers. Lori Sturgeon will be asked to cook the meat for the banquet this summer. A cleaning bee will be held in the hall on May 9 starting at 9 a.m. It was agreed to make a donation to the Children’s Health Foundation and to the school fair. The annual meeting was conducted by the District president of Huron West, Mabel Jacklin. She declared all offices vacant and asked Nancy Jardin to read a list of the new officers for 2005-2006. They were installed as follows: past president, Kay Roberts; president, Audrey Fenton; first vice- president, Nancy Jardin; second vice-president, Doreen Marks; secretary-treasurer, Doreen Marks; alternate secretary, Dorothy Coultes. The convenors remain unchanged. Dianne Robinson moved a vote of thanks to Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Marks for their work and leadership in the past two years. Mrs. Roberts presented Mrs. Jacklin with a hanging basket of flowers. The meeting closed by singing God Save The Queen.FROM BELGRAVE 7 attend Afternoon UCW The Afternoon Unit of the UCW meet in the church basement on April 12. There were seven members present. Ada Taylor read a poem entitled spring. Lois Chamney led in worship and gave the visiting report. The next meeting is on May 17 in the church. Pat Hunking has Bible study and Edith Vincent the program. “We must take responsibility for our actions. There is no disgrace to admit you’re wrong.” This was read by Edith Vincent. Mary Hunter died the Bible study on Judas - Was He a Traitor”? Ada Taylor told about two projects in the Sudan. A London couple were involved. Under the CASS schools were established. Now they are wanting to build a secondary school. The Smart Aid project takes into account the resources that are available and how to use them to the advantage of the people. They get the people started and from there on the Sudanese are working for the communities. Twelve acquaintances have all gathered at the home of Simone Montgomery to conduct a seance. They are all somehow connected to Simone's missing husband Riordan Montgomery who mysteriously disappeared on a boating trip 4 years ago. His body was never recovered. Simone is hopeful that her husband's ghost will contact her tonight so that she can finally be convinced of his death and move on with her life. Many in the room do not believe Riordan is dead. As Madame Devora is about to begin the ceremony the power goes out. There is the sound of frantic footsteps, doors opening, a scream, the faint sounds of a struggle followed by silence and the dull thump of a body hitting the floor. When the power is finally restored, Simone is missing from the room. The rest of the guests search for her throughout the house. She is eventually found...murdered. Using rhe biographies of the characters present at the seance (that will be printed in the paper weekly) and the clues (that will be given out at participating businesses) your job is to solve the case by finding the answers to these three questions:
